EFI Tuning LLC Flex Fuel update

Thank you to everyone that have placed pre-orders for our Flex Fuel kit!

I wanted to provide a quick update. Assuming USPS and Fed Ex don't let me down today I will have the prototype kit assembled, installed, and on the dyno tomorrow. We are doing some ported TB/IM testing and will dyno the FF kit at the tail end of that. I won't be posting pics of the prototype kit as it won't be 100% representative of the final shipping configuration. The prototype is more to verify fitment and electrical connections.

As of right now things are still on track for the expected initial ship date. I will update here if that changes but I don't expect it to.

We currently have supplied Flex Fuel tunes to two forum members via the remote tuning process. The feedback has been excellent. I'm expecting some track results from one of them this evening. Both are M6s.

Thank you,
Tim

any update on the flex kit? Still on schedule for the estimated ship date we got when we placed the pre order? Thank you!

Yes I am still targeting 12/12 as the ship date. All of the component orders were placed this morning. Chasing the connector terminal pins has been a treat

If there are any delays I will update immediately but I don't expect any issues unless a supplier drops the ball. I ordered a two part epoxy for the AFM modules a couple of weeks ago and the supplier literally only put one of the parts in the box. 5 day ground shipping from CA. Amazon to the rescue!

Perfect timing... I just logged in to give an update

Once the sensors arrive today I will have all of the components and can assemble kits. I expect the first 10 units to go out on 12/12 as planned.

I have 6 build sets left on the first batch that are still available. Once the pre-orders ship on Monday the pricing will go to full pricing. The remaining sets of this batch will ship 12/13 or 12/14. You can save $50 ordering now.

Thank you!
Tim

Question...

I'm thinking about adding a sealed connector on the ECM wire to allow the kit to be removed without having to mess with trying to remove the ECM terminal pin from the ECM connector.

Would this be desirable for you guys? This will also eliminate any wire routing issues when installing the ECM terminal. If you aren't careful you could install the ECM terminal then realize you picked a less than ideal path for the ECM wire when mating the ECM connector back to the ECM.

Thanks,
Tim

This happened to me when I installed mine. Cost me about another 30 minutes unbolting the fuse box to get proper wire placement to zip tie. That would be a great idea. I also had another mishap when I forgot to tighten the fittings. When I turned on the engine, I had fuel squirt all over the engine bay and garage. should have read the directions more closely. Tim, also the fuel line disconnect tool that came with the DMS kit was flimsy and broke when I used it. I purchased a metal one. Thankfully it was only $6. I'm getting tuned tonight. I'll try to post before and after dyno numbers.

I've ordered the appropriate connectors, terminals, and crimp tool for Saturday delivery so all of the kits going out on Monday will have this feature.

As far as fittings I will be tightening them pre-shipment and marking the fittings with a line. You can remove the markings if you wish before installation. If the line is straight across you know the fittings have been tightened and are ready to go. I can't stress enough to check for leaks before deeming the installation complete. I opted to go with hydraulically crimped fittings on the hose to minimize any chance of problems at those interfaces.

You will need to purchase the 3/8" QD removal tool from your local auto parts store. They are relatively inexpensive.

I'll post pics once the first kit is assembled.

Tim

Hi Tim just to clarify, we will need a 3/8" QD for install of this flex kit? Or what will we need that for? Thanks!

You will need the following...

- 3/8" QD fuel line disconnect tool (these are found at every auto parts store). This is used to remove the factory hose that crosses over the intake manifold cover. This hose will not be re-installed.

- a simple crescent wrench or open end wrench to loosen the ground bolt/lug by the fuse box so that the ground ring terminal can be installed.

That should be the extent of tools. I WILL have a nice installation guide put together but it may not make it in time to for the first batch. I will help out in any way I can in the mean time. It's a pretty strait forward install and the guide I wrote before is very applicable.

Here's a photo of what the final product looks like. I still need to add the ground terminal and the signal connector for the ECM but this will give you a good idea.
