Addiction issue?

For those that do not know, i am an addictiom coinselor:
I'm five years sober and it is my passion to help others, so I don't charge. Getting sober/well can be REALLY expensive and I think it sucks that some people have what it takes to achieve but miss out because they cannot afford the help they need.
I put my family through hell when I was using so I like to think I'm helping the people like my family and friends that get dragged into the mess simply by being good and loving friends and family.
I neither endorse nor affiliate with any facility, I work for us. That being said, I do no and will not use any 12 step in my counseling.

Thanks for sharing. Isn't it not getting sober even more expensive?
I had to become a teetotaler because of blood test results last year. I didn't realize how much money I was spending on booze until I stopped.

A decent 30-90 day inpatient rehab is 1,000 a day and top of the line addiction physiologist are $300-500 a hour.
The main expense of not getting sober is not a monetary one.

Back in the day Alcohol Rehab was a two week stay in the hospital(paid for by insurance), You were cut off from all forms of the outside world. Meetings all day to learn a new way of life. I was told at the onset that only one person in that big room of men would remain sober after that first year. I was bound and determined to be that one person.
After getting out, off to 90 meetings in 90 days. And regular attendance to the 12 step program on the outside after that. Those in charge were all recovering themselves with some serious recovery time under their belt. Only visitors allowed were those in recovery. If you wanted your old misery back- it was there waiting for you. After 90 days, I decided to stick around.
Guys I attended meetings with- a couple of them actually knew Dr Bob and Bill W. , the founders of AA. I lived near Akron. I was privileged to have known and learn from those old-timers.
That was 1983. December 2nd to be exact.
Seems to have worked one day at a time, and if I stay sober tomorrow, will have been 33 years since that last drink.
Thanks for the reminder.

Wow. I didn't realize rehab is that expensive. I was probably spending close to $700 per month drinking the XO stuff. Still, an expensive way to murder one's liver.
My doctor straight up told me that if I keep this up, I won't see my son graduate high school. That alone was enough to make me stop. I must admit that I do miss it.

Many families spend everything on rehab. Families are lost and confused and it is a great time for a highly corrupt and ineffective industry to pry every penny out of them as is possible.
