Thoughts/questions after 2 months of ownership
This being my first Camaro, I figured I'll post few thoughts for people in similar situation, as well as ask few questions...
1. I love how this car handles. I had a Genesis Coupe 3.8 Ultimate two cars ago, and my RS V6 would simply embarrass it in the handling department. 2. The V6 has good power on top, but feels a little flat at lower RPMs. Have a co-worker that bought the Turbo around the same time, and I definitely prefer mine (it sounds 10x better alone), but the midrange torque goes to the Turbo. 3. The visibility is a non-issue for me. I actually love the fighter-jet feel of the short windshield, and it really helps with morning sun. 4. The seats are good, but I could use an adjustable lower back support. Every car I've had in the past 10 years had one except this car. 5. The paint is THIN. This car picks up rock chips, scratches, etc. by just looking at it wrong. 6. Finally, the dashboard/nav screen are good, but I really wish there was a way to customize the displays a little more... It's sooo close to what I want it. Why not let us play with the design via an app or something?? Onto couple of questions: 7. While I like the stereo, the various vibrations/rattles/etc it introduces when listening to different music drive me nuts. Is it a lost cause, or should I try to get the dealer to work on it? 8. The brakes is the one part I don't feel are up to par - they lack good initial bite, and require some effort. Has anybody done a simple pad change and felt the results? Which pads?

I'll definetly agree with you on the paint being thin. I was looking at my front fender today and just saw strips of paint being chipped away, so I just turned around and walked away in shame...

I definitely agree with " The brakes is the one part I don't feel are up to par - they lack good initial bite, and require some effort. Has anybody done a simple pad change and felt the results? Which pads?"

I know some of you guys wont like this, but here are my thoughts on the V6 vs V8
I test drove each model twice, and I felt the same both times. The V8 is obviously more powerful, but at the same time it feels heavier. The V6 is nimbler, feels lighter ( because it is, by more than 300 lbs). V6 feels almost as fast. Unfortunately, there is nothing the dealer can do about the rattles in the interior. I do not like the mickey mouse gauge cluster. Why did they need to put two big and deep hoods over the top, further limiting the view? I do not like how the options are packaged. You get heated seats in Lt2, and then heated steering wheel is in another package. The difference between 1LT and 2LT is over $4K and you get a meaningless dual zone climate control. To get the blind spot alert that I very much like, I have to get the heated steering wheel AND heated seats that I very much dont need. I am buying a 30K Camaro, and to put a Camaro Logo on the fender I have to pay $150, and another $150 for 4 measly center caps. Making performance exhaust an option on a 6.2 engine is a joke. It's like going to Best Buy and you're offered a computer with 6th gen i7 processor and then they tell you it comes with a hard drive with only 1000 rpm. To me the best part of the new Camaro is the body style. This is what got me excited. It's the best since 1992. |

best to go to GEN5DIY and order all the 2LT/2SS parts seperately with more unlocked features than factory

I'm trying to get past the paint, but its hard, I don't think I have seen a single car on a dealer lot that isn't jacked up in one way or another. I can do everything on my own except PDR, and yet I don't feel I should have to on a brand new $30k+ car. ****ing Fiat's have better paint man.
