PSA: THE WHISTLING NOISE IS NOT NORMAL. PERIOD. Can we sticky this

IT
IS
NOT
NORMAL

GM OFFERED TO BUY MY CAR BACK AFTER 3 SETS OF SIDE MIRRORS.. The issue while unknown is thought to come from defective side mirrors. We tried MULTIPLE pairs until finally, one stopped creating the noise.

DEALERS REFUSE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT REQUIRES MULTIPLE TRIES WHICH MEANS THEY MUST SHELL OUT MONEY THEY MIGHT NOT GET BACK.

THE NOISE..

IS....

NOT...

NORMAL.

If your dealer WONT fix it, RAISE HELL. I did and not only did I get $2500 towards accessories, I got a months car payment AFTER being offered a car buyback if the issue persisted.

Can we PLEASE sticky this.

I have this on my car as well at highways speeds with the windows up. I just remembered today while driving home from work about the side mirror fix. Might have to bring it in next week. It does annoy me slightly sometimes. Definitely should be a sticky since it seems to still be a problem with newer cars.

Manually tweaked the mirrors a bit and it went away.

Damn, good job! Is the car relatively quite now? No whistles or abnormal road noise?

If manually pushing on the mirrors makes the noise go away... just get a very thin washer (titanium if it makes you feel better) and put it under one of the mirror bolts that would re-position the mirror in the same direction as your push. So if you pushed up on the mirror and the noise went away, a 0.3mm washer underneath the lower bolt (I'm assuming it's a 2 or 3 bolt design) will fix the issue permanently.

I highly doubt new mirrors are what actually fix the issue, the mounting and remounting is what really does it. Unless the mirror manufacturer has tolerances over 1mm :/ which I doubt is the case.

I've seen a lot of posts with someone mentioning an offer for them to buy the car back. Can someone enlighten me and share how much they offered to buy it back for? Just curious if they offer current value like a trade-in, price paid for the car at the time of purchase such as MSRP, etc.
