Anyone have the trunk not open?

I can either use the remote or the button under the bumper and hear the solenoid release but the trunk won't pop up. In order to get it to open I have to push down firmly on the truck and try again. Usually by the 2nd time it will pop and release. Seems like something is sticking and might need an adjustment. Anyone had this happen and found a simple easy fix? I'm not opposed to taking it to the dealer but thought I'd ask first in case there might be a simple solution.

Thanks!

Mine does the same thing. I keep meaning to adjust it but it seems so random I forget.

Yup... mine wouldn't open a few times and then I noticed where the trunk lid would hit the body of the car at the forward corners chipping the paint. I took it back to the dealer where they adjusted it (poorly as it took 2 tries). I ended up making a final adjustment by turning the black bump stops. I am still very careful when opening and closing the trunk.

Trunk not opening

I had mine in to the dealer for this same thing. Alignment was correct, actuator works as it should, but the culprit was the vertical adjusters being adjusted out more than needed so when the weight of the deck lid comes crashing down it locks but due to the slight bind the actuator releases but the trunk doesn't open. Adjusting the adjusters in slightly seems to have fixed it. This was straight from my dealer service department.

So a year later the trunk on my 2017 has done the same thing since new. One of the seemingly many examples of Poor quality control on Gen6. My cars build was 5/17 you would think this issue would have been resolved by now!

To explain:

The latch is too tight - pulling down too much.

This causes the latch mech. to bind.

Simply lessen the amount of pull-down load on the latch.

A little white lithium grease on latch wouldn't hurt too.

Same. I originally had it adjusted because of an alignment issue with the body. Since then it's done it randomly. I never really was bothered by it. Push down and push the button again.

But now I feel like I'm weird by not caring... Maybe I'll bring it in to get adjusted.

I have read many posts on here about the alignment issue. Mine malfunctioned where the trunk would not open yet was sending a signal that the trunk was not closed so I could not open the top. Had to have it replaced.

I had a brand new (34 miles on it) dealer loaner 2018 Camaro 1LS for nearly two weeks and the trunk wouldn't open without pressing down it first. Really annoying because I was using the trunk a lot.

Happens intermittently with my '17 and my '14. Button on the door doesn't work, button on the remote doesn't work. No releaseThen suddenly it'll work. Think it happened a couple times on my '10. Never tried pushing down on the trunk though.

I realize this issue is minor and much worse problems have happened, but this is the third year of production on Gen6 and I would think that since the problem seems to have been around since day 1 that it would have been resolved by now... Kinda Sad

Most cars with remote trunk can have this issue.

The weatherstripping is not seated when first installed on the line.

It's hard for them to guess where it settles, so it's too much pull-down on latch.

Simple, quick adjustment.

Not an issue that will be resolved off the line - ever. Latches have doing it for 30 years or more.

Thanks, I'll take your word for it and have mine adjusted. I know you know a lot more about this minor issue than I do. It's just agrivating to me to read so many posts with this problem. I've owned many new cars from a lot of different manufacturers over the years with remote or power trunk releases and I guess I've lucked out because this is the first time I have encountered this.

Don't have this problem at all on my 2016 SS.
