Thinking about adding the E-Force Supercharger Kit
For those that have it, how do you like it?

This is an easy question to answer, I really like it! It pulls like a train and behaves like a huge N/A engine. Mine puts out 450 ft.-lbs. rwtq at 2500 rpm and caries the power all the way through the rpm range. 560 rwhp measured on a Dyno Dynamics dyno. Pretty much the same numbers of other units right out of the box with the supplied tune.
But, there are a lot of side bars going on about the E-Force, namely high delta IATs. Yes, they are somewhat high, but it seems to be well understood by Edelbrock and IAT is measured at a point meant to represent worst case condition. Does this affect how it drives on the street? Not that I can tell. I haven’t experienced any loss of power on a hot day when making pulls. But they are higher than I personally would like them to be. So I’m going to fiddle with the system and see if I can get the IATs down some without too much effort/cost. It’s something I like to do and hopefully gain some power. It's quite. Barely able to hear it around town. If you’re looking to just punch up your SS as a daily driver, this is a great setup. Without a doubt, it's the best overall performing car I've ever owned. The only other PD on the market for the Gen6 with proven results is the Magnuson. The Maggie is also a great unit. Last edited by Atomic Ed; 10-26-2016 at 06:08 PM. |

I agree with Atomic Ed, love mine. Runs just fine. But it is kinda bad on your back tires.

Alright, here's my fifty cents on the E-Force now that I've had it on the car for about 2,300 miles. If you read this forum, you'll see I had a crappy dyno session. However, I am very sure it was due to my catalyst over temp protection being on, the car being heat soaked, and having high IAT's and a tiny pathetic fan in a not well ventilated dyno shop (many cars had gone before me that day). I'll dyno again another time when it's cooler and the over temp protection isn't active and am certain I'll have the same results as Ed and Jack have had in their dyno sessions. I'm very confident of this.
The car is a rocket on the street. Now that I've been closely monitoring my IAT's, I have discovered that roughly 80 degree outside temps are about the transition point from the car feeling plenty fast to not being able to go more than 40% throttle in 2nd gear without roasting the tires. I believe in typical day-to-day driving, the IAT's like to average about 50 degrees over ambient. At about 130 degrees F I believe is the point where the Edelbrock tune starts to dial back the timing advance due to the elevated IAT's. I can tell the difference personally. But man when it's under 80 outside, the car feels bonkers and it no longer gets any traction in second gear on the stock rubber with 10k miles on them and plenty of tread (for now, lol). Honestly if I could get the system to where the IAT's were even just 25 degrees less mainly for summer time, I would think it's a great buy. BUT....the Magnuson Heartbeat kit will give you those slightly lower IAT's and cost you the same. If I had to do it all over again, I would have gone with the Heartbeat system. You can still get the canned tune and powertrain warranty on it. This fact just wasn't advertised at my time of purchase and I didn't take the time to do enough digging and research. The E-force system is still very good, and I believe may put out a tad more torque down lower than the Heartbeat (someone correct me if I'm wrong), but the higher IAT's are it's main disadvantage in comparison to the Heartbeat. Its other disadvantage is that the coolant fill/bleed area is only a fill neck (not a tank), so coolant capacity is not that great plus it's not the highest point in the system so bleeding all the air out can really take some time. Even still, it never fails to put a big smile on my face (ESPECIALLY in sub 80 degree weather), and hopefully I can make some small improvements here and there like Ed to have lower IAT's come next spring and summer. Now that cooler weather is coming, I'll just have to try and not eat through my tires TOO soon!
