2017 ZL1 vs. 2015 Z06?
I'm on the fence... Do I...
1. Buy a 2017 ZL1 for 64K out the door. I could finance it and keep a bulk of the money in investments. or 2. Buy a 2015 Z06 3lz for 70K cash offer private party deal. The depreciation is already set in. The sticker price 2 years ago was 100K and now I can get one for 70K with less than 2000 miles on it. Both cars are similar in speed. I like the camaro because it's less "hey everyone look at me" but I like the corvette because I won't be losing a ton of money on the MSRP and buying a new car in the first year from a dealership. Any advice? |

If you can get a ZO6 for under $75k with the ZO7 package 100% do it!!! The ZO7 would be more important to me than 3LZ, but that's just me.

You might be able to find a 3LZ for that price, highly doubt you can find a 3LZ w/ Z07 package and 2k miles for that price, but if you can I'd pull the trigger on the Z06 immediately!

If you plan on tracking that Z06, cooling may be an issue to consider. More heat exchangers have been designed into the ZL1. It's also just as exclusive, if not more so as you seldom see them on the street.

The A10 on the ZL1 is lightyears ahead of the 8 speed on the Z06 on both upshift and downshift. Cooling on the ZL1 is also a lot better.
The Z06 is still a supercar with more wow factor, the ZL1 is just a faster Camaro. |

Lightyears is a very bold way of putting it. I haven't seen any direct comparisons of the A8 v A10. Any links?

I am speaking out personal experience after having driven the A10 yesterday for a good 2.5 hours, I am literally blown away by the performance of A10. Never thought an Auto could ever perform like this.

![]() OP, simple answer and great advice from the group. If you are going to truly track the car, the ZL1 is the right choice. If you are getting a nice car to have on weekend and enjoy trips with, the Z06 is the choice. |

I'd say Z06 if you can get extended warranty. As I had owned Z06, you want to have extended warranty, because it expensive to cover it yourself.
The drive and feel of a Z06 is totally different than a Camaro. Z06 isn't really meant for DD, but Camaro can easily be driven every day. If you're a big and/or heavy person, getting in and out of a Z06 will take a toll on your left knee. You have to be very careful when you get out, because you can twist your knee and get hurt. Z06 is just awesome to own and drive. It never gets boring. Yes, you will get attention. Dealers will try to rape you, called "Corvette Tax", but it's part of having an awesome car. I'd go with Z06... |
