Quieter exhaust available?

I KNOW I'm likely to get BOO'd out of the forum and don't seem to be able to find anyone who wants this - but here goes:

Does anyone know of a quieter exhaust system for the SS? I'm an older guy and "been there done that" with Cherry Bombs back in the 70's, open headers when I could get away with it, etc. I had 50 series Mickey Thompson's on a '70 AAR Cuda and wow, that thing could draw attention (Lime green with a zipper stripe).

At this point I like faster, quieter, and smoother. You won't see me making smoke with my back tires, but I may slip past you in traffic some time. My on-board electronics and driving style help me move way faster than I should and get away with it! (so far anyway)

So, if anyone has any ideas on how to quiet this thing down, go faster, and draw less attention - I'd be interested in hearing them. Teddy Roosevelt used to say: "speak softly and carry a big stick". I'm not THAT old but the SS is certainly a Big Stick!

Any ideas?

Kudos to you, and it's a great question. I really get what you mean about " slipping by people quietly", but fast. All my driving is city driving and I want no part of a loud exhaust. I opted for the GM performance muffler's, non-NPP, and they are "throatier', but certainly not louder. I really like them.

The car honestly isn't that loud in stock form unless you get on it. Cheapest option would be to NOT get on it, lol. Any aftermarket exhaust option I've ever seen usually has the intention of making the car louder/better sounding over stock. Sooo, keep it in touring mode and don't go WOT.

Excellent question. However, I don't know of any quieter exhaust systems out there.

Planning to pull the trigger - NPP question.

I'm ready to pull the trigger and, so far as I can see, the NPP thing is there just to make it louder, and adds no performance. That's part of why I joined the forum is to help me decide if that particular option is worth paying for.

Well I can certainly tell you that NPP with the valves closed is whisper quiet. I can barely hear the engine at all. Now that I have headers I can still barely hear it with the NPP valves closed! If the stock muffler is as quiet as the NPP with valves closed you won't have any issues with loudness

I find it very quiet in tour mode. Sat in a dealership the other day and the sales guy let me start it and run through the modes.. track and sport bounced off the walls and made me wet.. tour was pretty dull and I was in a showroom giving it hell.

Get the dual mode exhaust (NPP) and put it stealth. It's really quiet until you hammer it; then it will open up a bit.

npp all day
tour mode is very refined. switching stealth mode lets you hammer it without any real noise to attract attention.
