I had the 3M paint protection film "clear bra" installed right away, so that really helps protect mine

I live near a rock quarry and trucks travel my riute to work. I use a NoviStretch bra. Seems to be working and I can take it off wheneber I want.

XPEL.....you can do this yourself with the 3 inch XPEL door edge guard from Amazon and just tape off the leading edge and about an inch back… It works very well and is almost impossible to see

I opti-coat my vehicles and add Xpel film to the bumper. It's seriously good protection! I do many long trips so for me it's a no-brainer.

Mine is a daily driver and I have a few small rock scrapes and chips but just don't worry anymore. The bad ones I use touch up paint on and keep going. Not going to let a few small chips keep me from enjoying my Camaro.

Depending on the color of your car, paint chips are really easy to repair even for people like me who have no idea what they are doing. just spray the area with water, lightly rub some 2000 grit wet sandpaper inside the chip to slightly smooth it out and make a good contact surface, dab touchup paint inside it, let it dry, repeat adding coats once per 30 minutes until it's level with the existing paint or bubbling out a little. Wait a couple days so it can cure and get hard, then wrap the 2000 grit sandpaper around a pencil, spray the area with water again, and use it as a file to make it flat. Dry off the water from time to time to check your work (the water makes the job look deceptively good sometimes when it really needs more work.) At this point, if you did it correctly, both the repair area and the surrounding factory clear coat it will be flat but matte colored. Finish with compound or else just polish it. Either works, polishing just takes a bit longer. Easy stuff.
My car is black so it's pretty much impossible to see any small repairs. I also don't bother to add clear coat over the repair area. It's recommended, but I'll have to see how it holds up over time. Not a big deal if it needed to be touched up later on. Paint polished to a high sheen looks visually identical to areas with factory clear coat. |

Yup I have found it chips easily! I've touched up four spots and like you it's a daily driver and I don't tailgate. I will be looking into protection of some sort in the spring

I freaked out over the first couple, but I knew I'd drive myself into an early grave if I kept it up, so I try hard to take chips in stride now. Besides, I can't even see them from my favorite spot...the drivers seat.
