500hp

Is this achievable with a CAI, headers, exhaust and tune?

Maybe running E85, otherwise I think it might be a stretch just on those alone.

At the crank yes, at the wheels no. There are a few that have CAI, ported TB, Msd intake, LT headers/full exhaust, and tune that are making between 450-470 to the wheels. Add a cam to that and you would be at 500hp to the wheels.

I have all the mods listed except the cam and the car pulls very hard. Can't say numbers though as I haven't had it dyno'd though but like I said 450-470 to the wheels seems to be the general range for that setup. Just depends on the dyno.

for $6k you can get a complete procharger kit. No need for any other mods. to get to 500 n/a, you are probably getting close to that price with cam and install. Hell most LTs with full exhaust are $2k+ now. No way is it worth to try to crack 500hp n/a. Boost or nothing for me. And lets not forget you are way past 500hp. And the option to pulley swap to more power is there. Forget n/a unless you have unlimited cash.

I think most dismiss a S/C because of the up front cost. Most do their mods over a period of time so it's not a big hit out of pocket. Then there's also the reliability factor and pushing the motor to the limits with the s/c. The other major factor with a s/c is putting the power down. This means suspension and tires which means a few thousand more. It's awesome to say "yeah it's super charged" but when you get smoked out of the hole for lack of traction it doesn't mean much. Everyone's different though and have different setup ideas and I love seeing what everyone does differently and how it works out for them. Personally I went full bolt on's first, now will work on suspension to put the power down right and finish with a engine build and s/c. Even with full bolt on's I spin like no other so I couldn't imagine what one with a s/c does.

I agree.. But I would still do drop in forged rods and pistons..

Breaking 500 HP at the crank is easy. E85 will get you there all by itself. 500 RWHP (corrected) is in my opinion going to be slightly out of reach without a camshaft change. I'm going to see how close I can get over the next couple of months. I'm not sure I will continue past the bolt on phase. 1st gear is useless on the A8 as it is with 2nd not much better. A 100-150 shot would do well on the highway rolls when needed.

I believe we are there already with our power packages, feel free to give me a call.

Also look at my Header rotofab MSD testing.

Ted.

I've had two recently, that put down roughly the same power, 500 might be possible in one with e85 and a glory pull, but I don't see it being an every pull 500.

Vehicle 1: 2016 ss a8 stainless works headers with full exhaust, msd intake, roto fab, vmax ported throttle body, our flex fuel kit on e85, vehicle made 463. (This car has been quicker than 7.35 in the 1/8)

Vehicle 2: 2016 ss a8 American racing headers, stock npp, msd intake, roto fab, katech 103mm throttle body, 93 pump gas made 457, I think with e85 we'd see another 30-40 hp. And this one would be knocking on 500 but idk if it'd be there. (This one hasn't been on a track yet)
