Problem With Waze, Navigation Music Turning Off

I started using Waze for my navigation. Yes, I do have the mylink with nav. but I wanted to use something different. And I think I like it more.

Problem, when I have the music on from the radio and Waze interrupts the music to give directions to where I'm going, the music shuts off. This is annoying. The stock navigation doesn't do this. Is there a way to turn or mute something off or just use Waze thru Bluetooth and still continue to listen to my music?

Thought it might be. I've seen some others mention odd handling of BT by iOS. I haven't heard anyone mention the same issue with an Android phone. Maybe someone with an iPhone can confirm.

I've had similar problems with my iPhone interrupting the music and then not returning to the music once the next maneuver is complete. Haven't figured out how to correct it yet.

I just went to chevy.com and did a live chat with customer service and I posed the question to them. This is there response:

"The system is operating as designed. There is not a setting that would allow you use the Waze app and continue to listen to the radio after receiving navigation directions."

Yea that's what I would expect. It's not myLink, it's an iOS issue. Just like my iPod touch produces clipping on USB but Android and USB sticks don't.

The only way I have found to defeat this is to turn off bluetooth and get the WAZE prompts through the phone. Of course then phone calls don't go through MyLink. Catch 22. I actually use an old iPhone that is not paired with the car for WAZE. It is my work backup phone and it rarely rings (except for telemarketers

In the Waze app go to sound - alerts only

It only interrupts the music for relevant alerts... Hurrah!

Not yet. Supposed to be coming soon to Android Auto. No word on CarPlay.

Well I'll be. Did not know that setting existed. WAZE was just updated on my phone. Have five toggles in the sound menu - These are the helpful ones:
Mute Waze During Calls;
Play sound to phone speaker; and
Prefer Bluetooth

Between those three all bases are covered.

I use Waze along with carplay and it just lowers the music volume abit for the Waze warning to be heard, and then music volume goes back to what it was. no interruption at all.
