Ye olde air intake right above the headers trick... good for thermal loading and such

I brought this very thing up in the forced induction forum. Apparently thats a pretty common spot for procharger to place their filters. I imagine it would be horrible placement for getting cool temps but there are people on these very forums running that kit in 100 degree weather without issue

Is the intercooler so effective that it is able to overcome such a drastic heat differential? Someone with practical experience please enlighten me. |

I know prochargers are very effective on LT1's, as a buddy and I installed one on his C7. That said, the C7's engine bay layout allows for the air intake to be in the stock location. So, while the procharger is still effective in our cars, considering the air intake location, does a roots type make more sense for our application; considering efficiency? |

I don't know... I'm sure it'll still add power, but it'll definitely suffer from heat soak. There's no way an intercooler will be able to get those temps down. You'll be at 720hp (maybe) for the first two pulls, then in limp mode until the car cools down. Even factory supercharged cars have these issues, and they're pulling air from outside of the car.
