Any recommendations on for a cam?
I think I'm gonna do it, but this will be my first crammed car. I'm looking to just add the Chop sound to my car and keep the cam really mild if that makes sense.

At a local shop that our Camaro club uses for a stage 4 cam with some supporting parts it is around $4000.00

A total cam package with rockers, lifters, tune etc. will cost you around 4-5k Add in headers and you'll be at 6k.
I love the sound of cams and with a mild-aggressive cam, you can be anywhere from 460-550 WHP. The only thing I'm concerned with is the reliability and drive-ability! 500 WHP on the SS is PLENTY!! Supercharging is more expensive but I heard the drive-ability is better.. also makes more HP. |

That white car could be Gtkilrss, a member here. His build thread in the Journal section is called Farmmaro 2.0.

OP's sig line says auto. He also has taller tires. With a stock torque converter, the Stage 1 cam is probably a better choice than the Stage 4 that is in the white car. Not a huge amount of real-world info on cam upgrades for these things is out yet, so this is just a guess on my part.

You'll need to stay on the smaller side for cams with the stock torque converter. Not really worth it imho. Get a decent sized cam and bigger stall torque converter and it will be a much more potent combo

Lingenfelter's first cam for the 2014 Stingray was cut by CompCams and retained AFM & VVT while pushing power & torque up by 100. This included some head polishing and spring/retainer upgrades. If someone duplicated that kit I'm sure it would be much cheaper than Lingenfelter charged for it.
Support that with headers, intake manifold, throttle body & working CAI -- we might be able to get 600bhp without giving up any driveability. I think getting 30mpg with 600hp would be impressive. |

I just sent my local speed shop a message to see what they recommend and price. If I do a cam I want to stay in between mild and wild. Mine is not a daily driver and sometimes I take it to car shows. If I don't go this way I might do a supercharger. Right now all I have is a Mishimoto catch can and the Roto-Fab intake. I plan on going with a aftermarket NPP exhaust and maybe lowering springs. I will post what they recommend when they get back with me.

How come none of the sponsors offer a Cam package for us? Maybe the money is to easy with a S/C install.
At least give a package deal, if no one wants it that is up to them. I think a basic mild cam and components w/tune should be $3500. If you get into heads, $5000. Intake and throttle body $6500.
