Will the 1LE get the A10?

Al O said the 10 speed is the best thing ever. Do you think it will ever make it into the 1LE or SS models. If anyone is at the show, ask him if you get a chance.

Possible, but I would assume not for a few years. I think eventually if the 10 speed is as good as everyone is saying it is. Then it will find it's way down into the mustang GT, not just the shelby, and of course down into the SS camaro.... But we will have to wait and see if it's the new best thing since sliced bread or if it is just a big hype with not much to back it up. I'm a manual guy, but I really hope that the 10 speed is as good as people are claiming and saying.

Here's a clip of Al O talking about the new 10 speed. He seems to think its the next big thing. It sounds perfect for the 1LE.

Go to 3:30 in the video below

Al also said the A8 shifted as quickly as the Porsche PDK and would have no WOT manual mode delay...we all know how that turned out lol.

You have to remember it's his job to say each new GM thing is "the best"...

Here he talks about the the 1LE
minute 4:09

At minute 11:09
He says to pay attention to the October edition of Motor Trend when it comes out. Is that a hint?

No, we may eventually see it in a regular SS though.

It is. Wonder if he knows where the car finished in the competition.

Problem with a torque converter based automatic is usually downshift speed...which if you're just drag racing, won't matter, but if you road race, or even autocross, that is hugely important. Not saying the A10 won't be a great transmission, and hopefully much better than the A8, and if it is, down the road I could very possibly get one. But, IMO it still isn't close to the overall performance of a true performance based DCT. There is a reason Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, etc don't use a torque converter based automatic...

I'm sure he does, at least somewhat, as the engineers or whomever was there would at least know the times of all the cars. But, doesn't their choice not always have the best time? Price and other factors play a part...right?

I saw on Motor Trends Instagram, that October will be the timeframe when all the information is released.

If it makes the car faster around the track, I would suspect it to be added maybe when they do the refresh. If not, then it will not be added as an option.

The 1LE package seems to be geared as a take it or leave it option, so its hard to know.

Sales don't seem great so, so if that continues, the numbers guys may make it happen too. Who knows.

Correct. One of the engineers leaked the lap time that's how I found out the time. Correct the fastest isn't always the winner. In 2015 the MX-5 finished in the top 3 despite being one of the slowest laps. I could see Al making the same statement even if he only knows the lap time. I'm just curious if they knew who won.
