50th Anniversary owners beware faulty badge...

I purchased a 50th 2LT last Saturday and detailed her on Thursday. While I was wetting her down with the hose the "Y" in the FIFTY badge on the drivers side fender came off. Suffice to say I was not pleased and called the dealer who said it was under warranty and would order a replacement for me. I am not sure how they attached these but it must be something similar to bubble gum. Kinda reminded me why I have stayed away from Chevy for 25 years. I really hope that is not a sign of things to come.

Industry standard, PSA. Requires a clean surface and good pressure at application.

Amazed you'd use this as an excuse to stay away from Chevrolet. Warranty has it covered. It's fine.

Little detail mean a lot.

GM went bankrupt partly due to shoddy craftsmanship. Lots of other things yes, but building sh-t was part of it.

I swore off GM and all American cars in 1999 and I'm banking $43k that GM is not the old GM.

My point is I completely understand and sympathize with the OP. If you don't you don't.

Just saying. Some of us on here aren't of the "GM or bust" crowd. Which is a lot smaller than it was 20 years ago.

stay positive

In 1983 I purchased a new Trans Am, as I pulled out of the dealership Ace Pontiac, Bronx NY the shift handle came off in my hand, two months later the cat converters had to be replaced, if you took a turn too fast the car would stall, it was truly a sad car to own, dumped it after a very long year. This is my first GM in 33 years, some paint issues that I can live with...but this is a great car. The power of the LT1, the sound of the exhaust, easiest manual transmission I've driven, superb handling, smooth MRC tech ride the list goes on. Don't sweat the small stuff drive your car.enjoy.

I see it's Mosaic Black. Still no black base coat around the hinges?

The "Y" on the Fifty badge has been my biggest concern since getting mine. But mine has not come off. It snags when detailing. But found if you go from the "F" to the "Y" when going over that area it doesn't have issue. And seeing as I snagged a towel on mine and it's still there, think I'm ok. It's applied to the vehicle with 3M tape I'm sure. So if it comes off I will just clean the area and reapply some 3M adhesive and call it a day. Might order second set of fender decals just incase though. Other than that love my 50th. Sorry your badge giving you issues.
