Flood
Rained for 2 days straight here in baton rouge LA no flooding until i woke up today. entire neighborhood was flooded n tragically my car was flooded inside somewhat.
basically the water was up to the base of seats not sure if anything is damaged but the power seats seem to be gone. really want to cry. have insurance but not sure if car will be totaled. worst fear "yeah car is covered but hey your 15k down payment is out the window for a 3 month expensive ride. anyone have testimony with flooding?

Not good...a lot of wiring and electronics low in the car. And a year or two down the road, it takes its toll, even if it's good today. See if they can total it .

I would think that if your car is totaled that the insurance company would just give you retail value for it, or since it's so new and you just got it, whatever you paid. So you'd get your deposit back.....It sucks to see that and I hope it works out for you

Went to the office this morning for a few hours (Essen Lane across from the hospital). I didn't realize how much rain we were getting. Hopefully you can come out on the other end of this deal in good shape. I've never had a car flooded, but my 4th-gen was stolen. Insurance experience in that situation was great.

More than likely they'll offer low-end bluebook. ( I believe one member lost 9K with-in a few months ownership recently) OP sorry to see that happen, as mentioned before, you have lots of wiring, sensors, plug-in harnesses, below the car... Beware of electrical issues in the future. |

A flooded car is absolutely totaled. There are MILES of electrical wiring in the floor - that's where the main wiring for pretty much everything in your car is routed.
Also mold. To get rid of any chance of mold your entire interior needs to be gutted, the body/chassis needs to be cleaned and bleached, and after its allowed to dry for 3 days of constant circulating warm dry air, all new carpeting, center console, door panels, and front and rear seats needs to be installed. But since all modern cars have power running through certain lines even when completely shut off, once water shorts out live wires your ECM is toast. |
