They put the 1/4 mile @ 12.5. Lame

LOL, the pictures they took on Imperial Highway/105 freeway is right by my old job DIRECTV now AT&T..

12.5 is highest I seen tested by these so-called pro's. Funny how Motortrend test it against the M4, ran it 75x and averaged out to 12.3 for the manual.

What they do, run it once? Fail.

I would guess that the tires may still be green, the engine may need a few more miles and this was the first set of runs. I would expect to see all of the numbers improve as the tires wear in and the engine breaks in a bit more. Magazines have different testing regimens. They typically may not yield the fastest times.

If you guys had read the article they commented that they assume because it was a fresh engine it's running a little slower. They said they plan on going back and doing the measurements again once the engine had loosened up.

Do you guys not read the words and only look at the numbers? The whole article reads almost like a love letter with the only complaints being that the seat belt can be hard to find and that they don't like the 1->4 skip shift feature [which I think every dislikes].

Not really lame for a M6. This is just about the best you can get in bad air or with only a little seat time. Try it.

True and I agree.. I know real world numbers factoring driver experience, conditions will play a role with different times.

However, when a magazine such as Motortrend/C&D/etc provide numbers, those numbers should be as good as possible. If Motortrend tested it the car in a very high DA, inexperience driver, etc.. they will lose credibility.

Most folks (I have too I will admit) will use numbers from big magazines for references since they are trusting that these cars are being tested by good drivers, professionals.

Well this is supposedly somewhat of a fresh engine and kudos to them for explaining that they tested a previous manual SS that ran 12.4.

Heaviest car they have tested (fully loaded 2SS) and they said the car had like no mileage. Which was verified on Facebook, car only had like 250 miles on it...

They have ran two other manuals in the past, both ran 4.0 and 12.4...so they can do it. Car and Driver just got a 12.3 out of their manual...

Yeah Motor Trend always does a re-test on the performance numbers at the end of long-term testing. Mostly the numbers improve and sometimes they improve dramatically.

MT typically uses one guy that has been doing their acceleration testing for years.

Really strong trap speed. Nothing wrong with that 12.5 and 12.4 with a M6.
