Rear 6x9 Speaker Removal Question

I have read conflicting info regarding removing rear 6x9. Some say rear glass needs to be removed and some do not. I had my dealer pull up the speaker removal instructions and it DOES NOT appear the rear glass needs to be removed. A bunch of trim panels and seat back need to be removed to get to the speakers...but no glass removal. Unless i am missing something in the GM instructions...can anyone who has removed rear 6x9 verify this for sure?

Why would you need to remove the rear glass. BTW i have 2SS and not happy with Bose system at all. Are there speakers placed in Rear deck. Haven't looked yet

Some people were thinking the glass had to be removed because they are in the rear deck and there is not much room between the glass and speakers.
