Has anyone deleted their run flats with a standard tire? I got a none repairable nail in one of my rears. Of course none of the local shops have a replacement on hand and I had to order it. Lucky for me the camaro isn't a daily driver and can sit.
I debated about replacing both rears with a standard tire of the right size but without the compressor or spare. I didn't want to end up stranded

Went with the Extremecontact DWS 06. Wanted something that would do better in the cold and wet. No issues so far. I should say that I'm running Nitto 555 G2s for my summer set.

If you have run flats I'm not understanding the stranded part. I've gotten two flats in my 3 series and neither of them caused me any trouble. Replaced both of course but I drove 20 miles at roughly 50mph with no issues. Why go with standard tires?

I was thinking about going with those exact ones, nitto 555 G2..

Any pictures of them on the car?

Because the Run Flat tire wont be on the shelf at every location. Due to the fact they run $400, I dont see many places stocking them. So the next time this happens Ill be in the same boat, waiting for a special order tire when they have three different options that are no run flat on the shelf right now....and I can get two of them for the price of the run flat.

did you got get the compressor/fix a flat from the dealer ? or you taking your chances hoping you dont get a flat??

Until they find out its not run flat tires on the car anymore, and if I had kept them I would be able to drive myself to the local dealer.....so they dont cover it.

I did not. I have two sets of wheels and tires so if one gets a flat I just bring the truck out and change it real quick.

I factor the cost of a possible tow into the replacement cost. Even a short distance can run $75 or more. Then I consider the safety factor. I've lost standard tires in a blowout situation. Scary to be sure. Never had a bit of concern when the run flat went down. Except for the warning light you'd barely know anything was wrong. That being said I paid around $400 each time. I've also replaced some standard unidirectional tires that ran me $200 a piece plus the tow since my donut wasn't an option. First time I went to put it on it was flat. Go figure. Anyway buy what you feel comfortable with and what you can afford.

On my Vette I just bought, I replaced before car left the lot with DWS06 tires. Bought a compressor and plug kit and put in trunk. The run flats are much more money, hard to get, wear faster, louder, and throw a ton of crap all over the car. I don't track, but the DWS06 do real well.

Exactly. I had to wait five days to get my replacements at the dealership.
