Chevrolet Performance Air Intake (from GM)

Has anyone heard any updates from GM or a dealership on when the Performance Air Intake from GM will be available to order/purchase?

Right now the one that is listed in the June 2016 Chevrolet Performance (Part No. 23408280) "Performance Air Intake – Camaro SS with LT1 V-8" is not available, one dealership I talked to said that their sources from GM have told them it should be out in mid to late August... This is the one you can get from GM that does not void your warranty.

Has anyone else heard anything different?

The last thing someone reported the other day was that GM is still shooting for later on this year, October'ish...I am waiting for their intake as well.

I will be interested in this mod too! GM was supposed to come out with an intake system for the Gen5 but it never happened. I finally put an SLP Blackwing on it before putting their LTs and x-pipe/Loudmouth2 full exhaust system and hp Tuners tune. I miss it but I really like my '16 now.

CAI I believe will be providing them to GM. With the factory intake manifold whistle that has arose, I believe it has delayed release. Once that is remedied it will be released. Looking like late August to September per CAI's completion of the remedy.

Just my opinion, right or wrong......

I think he meant the engineer told him it would be ready by the time SEMA begins.

Ah... misread that, it'll be out by SEMA - thanks Aboynamedsue.

Will this intake be worth the wait or should I just go with one of the aftermarket ones even though it won't be covered under warranty by GM?

They do look exactly like CAI. And our whistle is a good noise, but I bet that is a likely cause for the delay.

Last I heard was May. I bought the Mishimoto and it won't void your warranty. But you can't use it in CA.

Will be out towards October if it all goes as planned, according to my source who used to work for the performance team at GM. So I take it with face value.

Personally, the car does NOT need it now at all.. I would probably wait since it will probably come with a tune. If you can wait, wait it out.
