Catch can review

So after having my mishimoto catch can for around 500 miles give or take, it's paid for it's self, it's nice to know that my engine is kept clean and all that blow by won't make it into my valves, I highly recommend it! I know it's not much but it's a mod that doesn't hurt to have

I think the LT1 already comes with a factory integrated catch can on it. If that's what gets sucked through the intake manifold, they did a half azz job.

You're thinking of an air oil separator

From Mishimoto:

"It is great to see that GM addressed a portion of the CCV system with its AOS. Unfortunately, GM has not added such a setup to the PCV-side of the system. From our findings with other catch can projects, we’ve seen that the PCV line produces more oil byproduct than do the breather lines.
On the LT1, the PCV is located on the front of the block, just under the throttle body. A short line runs from the valve to a nipple on the intake manifold."

Ah, okay. They added a separator to the clean side, but left the dirty side alone. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

It's the oil mist vapors coming through on the dirty side that desperately needs the AOS since that's where the problems begin with coked up intake valves and oil filled intakes on engines with direct injection. I can't believe they didn't address this with the LT1 in the 6th gen.

Beat me to it on the response.. I had the C7 and it is impressive to se what GM did to the LT1 for the Camaro ...shows they are forward thinkers..if they could just produce an entertainment system that is stable
I have the moto can, had it for (2) oil changes and get at least a half a cup each time !!

I'm concerned about a post where GM refused to replace an engine specifically because of the catch can. Yes, I know, it can't possibly cause massive oil loss which was the problem.

I took it in for my break in oil change and they never said anything about the catch can, however it was at a GMC dealer so maybe they don't get much camaros however they still provide services to Chevy since they are all gm

This is funny. I installed one of those systems on my Airplane. Did not know modern cars need them also.
