Reading Lamps
I have searched but haven't found anything that might solve my problem, so I'm asking if anyone has experienced this as well.
Here is the situation. The "reading lamps" (aka map lights) in the overhead console on my car are always on. The manual only says that they are supposed to go on when a door is opened and off when closed. Also you can manually turn them on by pressing the button by each one. I am unable to turn them off using the button switches. They are on constantly until the car is turned off for 10 minutes. By the way, when they are on, so is the passenger footwell light. Has anybody discovered a solution? I can only feel that it is a possible defective door switch.

This is one of those AHA moments.
It would have been nice if the manual could have an additional sentence saying that those "lamps" could be turned on using the "instrument panel illumination control". Thanks for the assistance.
