Buying a 2SS but trading in for 1LE?
Like so many of you if the 1le were out right now you would buy it. I have a really good break in schedule this summer and would love to have the extra time to track and enjoy the new SS. This is probably a stupid option but how bad would it be to buy a 2SS get to use it until the 1le is out ? would any dealers going into that sale get you a better trade in value? knowing that your buying now but interested in the 1 le later? I'm sure one would lose 7K? right off the bat.

I mean this seems insane to me but if you have the money and don't care about burning it then

If you know for sure that you are going to get a 1LE, then why waste money on a 2SS for a few months? It is not something I would do but it is your money.

I love the 1LE but the reality is that I don't actually track the car therefore it makes more sense to pay for features I will actually use like the ventilated seats, backup sensors, rear traffic cross alert, etc. I won't really appreciate the e-diff over the standard limited slip while on my drive to the movies or the 6 piston brake calipers on my trip to the grocery store. Anyway, yes, depending on what you negotiate I would plan on losing at least $7k. Remember, all the tax, tag, title work and all the other fees that exist when you purchase a new car. I think someone posted a link not too long ago where someone ordered a loaded 2SS for about 47-48k and it had less than a 1000 miles and it was being advertised for around 40-41k. |

You should wait for the 1LE. The loss you will take on the trade in will be astronomical. You would basically be paying ZL1 prices for a 1LE. Because you couldn't wait 6 months.

At least buy the 1SS, should take a slightly less depreciation hit as the more loaded models depreciate more.

But if you have that money to burn I would just spend it on a ZL1. The other option is to buy a used 1LE, ZL1, Corvette, etc. just to hold you over. If you buy it right you may not even lose money, you could even make a few bucks. Last edited by raptor5244; 05-28-2016 at 07:18 PM. |

No, if you plan to track your car then I would recommend the 1LE but I still would not buy an SS in the interim. I would just save the money that you would make for monthly payments on the SS for a larger down payment on the 1LE or mods for the 1LE.

I drove the previous gen Zl1 and actually felt nothing when I drove it, the 6th gen had way more character * another option is to buy a shelby and sell it in 6 months with no loss in value than buy the1le. how much would a 1ss depreciate?

I bought A 2SS on impulse and thought I'd regret it once the 1le came out, I was wrong.
This car has so much damn grip there really isn't a point to having more if she is a street car. I took a turn at 1.05gs and didn't hear the tires squeak one bit. You have to go way out of your way to get this car to its limits. Two side notes: 1- I wish the SS had a stiffer ride 2- most of the 1LE upgrades will likely be offered by gm for the SS. That is what they did for the 5th gen. Last edited by ender2664; 05-28-2016 at 06:55 PM. |

Step 2) search nearest race kart association/track Step3) race karts... its more intense than tracking a car... I guaruntee you will get the urge satisfied.... im talking 180 lb karts that have 30-40 hp with a power to weight ratio that gets you 0-60 in 3.6 seconds.... faster than a corvette.....and pull 2-3 G's laterally.... and top out at 90-100 mph.... 2 inches off the ground...

I 2nd on the racing karts, it is a lot of fun! Always end up with quite a few bruises the next day and being a bit sore, but I guess that's just due to me getting old. Always a good feeling to rub it in your friends' faces when you smoke them every time too
