Going to the dealer tomorrow

Hello everyone,

I'm going to test driving a 2016 2SS on Saturday.

I was trying to find a comprehensive list of things to look for when I am there tomorrow.

I came up with the following:

Oil Pan
Cracked Toe links
Seats (recline/movement)
NPP Exhaust rattle
Mylink system (radio etc)
Paint
Cabin noise (air flow while driving)

Is there anything else I should be looking for specifically? I would love the input.

Sorry I don't understand this, what do you mean? If I go looking to buy a car I am exactly going in looking for problems with the car. The bad attitude no, but not sure why he would be doing that. Just confused from your post is all.

Keep in mind that a few of those will be fixed IF the car needs it befor it can be sold even. The NPP rattle might not rear it's ugly head for 500+ miles. The rest is up to you to check out. But like Drags said go in shopping to enjoy the car, if the paint is fine then buy away, the rest will be okay.

My Order Guide here. The cost breakdown Excel file might help you with pricing. EDIT: Just realized you are in Canada. If you are decent with Excel at least you don't have to start from scratch to modify that.

Thanks for the replies, I definitely won't be going in with a bad attitude. Its rare that dealerships here get 2SS models in that aren't already spoken for so the fact I'm able to go out on test drive is a plus regardless whether I bring it home or not.

I just want to spend a good hour or so with the car and make up my mind. I test drove a fully loaded V6 6th gen and loved it.. but back then I didn't know much about all the issues. Knowing what questions to ask and being educated prior to tomorrow is important to me. Just want all my bases covered going in, as it is still somewhat intimidating going to dealerships for me. Even though I know I've done my research.

Whether I buy it or not tomorrow I'll know whether the V8 version is worth it to me. The V6 really surprised me in performance and overall comfort, however with that said the V8 with MRC should really blow me away. If it doesn't ill stick with the V6.

My dealer does not allow test drives on the SS or Corvettes. My 2SS had 8 miles on it after salesman took car to station for a fill-up.

I understand their reasoning I suppose, they don't want people to "abuse them". But what about someone who is truly interested in buying an SS or Vette? Would they tell them they can't drive it? How can you buy a $40k, $50k or in the case of the Vette maybe $70 or $80k car without driving it first? Just my thoughts.

I think you will be blown away by the SS. If you love torque and the glorious sounds that a V8 makes you will be hooked.

Agreed. Especially for a drivers car. It's not Toyota Corolla where you aren't focused so much on how it drives. You are buying a Camaro or Vette precisely for how it drives.

Good luck Im right behind you, However Im more of a straight up YES and NO guy.." I want a 1SS manual with NPP, black rims, red hash marks, OTD under 40,000 can you make it happen" you would be surprised how many bite especially now( I had one dealer do 41000 ish OTD for a 2ss because I didn't specify 1SS or 2SS which might be a good idea to leave out now that I think about it.) Check that hood, trunk and doors fully open and fully close w/out binding/contacting adjacent body panels... Ie look for paint chips that may have been caused by this.

Check that the hood and top of front bumper are level. If hood looks low it could be that bumper is high not necessarily that hood is low.

Check for moisture under trunk mat, floor mats.

Unusual engine sounds. (Not the normal ones)

Ive had this same issue countless times buying sport bikes. I simply laugh walk out then go to a dealer that will let me test drive.. After I buy said "vehicle" I go back to the original dealer and make sure they understand I was serious about making a purchase and they lost that deal due to NOT letting me drive the "vehicle".

I understand liability etc but they can take a copy of your DL, Ins card, do a freaking credit app to prove u can buy etc. Theres no reason for dealers to NOT let a customer test drive a unit.

My attitude is I don't drive I don't buy see you. Someone wants my money I guess its not you
