Grand Sport or ZL1
Pondering.......facts,some substantiated, some not. If you wish, throw darts. I am a big boy. Recently released price for C7 Grand Sport $65k +-. Estimated price of new ZL1 forecasted to be in the mid $60's. Taking that as a push. While no official performance numbers released, indications are the speculated difference in HP vrs. weight will result in another push, both in straight and curly lines. Having owned 3 C6's and a ZL1, I bonded more with the Camaro. However, if cost and performance truly prove a stand off, will generational and/or personal traits sway choices?

They did say yesterday at the Corvette Bash that the Grand Sport ran a 2:45.18 at VIR Grand course. As a point of reference, that's a tad over a second faster than the C6 ZR1 ran there, same driver, Jim Mero. Not too shabby. If memory serves, the C7 Z06 ran a 2:41 or thereabouts.

depends how you're using it. the typical camaro vs vette comparisons.
ride height - scraping on driveways rear seats - basically for convenient storage, but still useful etc then how much does acceleration mean to you? the camaro will have the acceleration Im sure the camaro will have a more compliant ride ZL1 provides excellent performance in every category, and comfortable enough to drive cross country (not that the vette couldn't do that, but you know what i mean) The GS vette will give you more racecar feel - lemans connection the less everyday car feel makes it feel more special but also the tradeoffs that comes with that. both excellent options, can't go wrong |

Were options released? If GS starts at 65k anf has options like C6 GS, you can tack on almost 20K in that quickly.
My 2012 4LT A6 IOM GS stickered at 75k and GS entry was 55-57 that year. You throw on CCB/PSC2 kit and 3LT that's a solid jump right there. |

Depending on option structure and Supplier pricing, this might bring another option into the fold for me. I really just want GM to release print for the 1LE and ZL1 so I can make up my mind finally!

So...
The Grand sport has a base price and track time released but the ZL1 and 1LE do not? |

Tough choice, but I'd go ZL1. I think it will be a better street car.

I'll probably go GS just because I have 16 SS already. If I haven't, I'll go ZL1.

I've been going back and forth on this exact same argument. Effectively the Grand Sport looks like a Z06, which is awesome. Need to see the new Camaro in person. I keep hearing that pictures don't do it justice. For me, looks are a big part of it if they have similar performance, which it sounds like they will. So, funny enough, I've actually been looking at used ZR1s. You can get a really low mileage used ZR1 in immaculate condition for mid $60's. I love the look of the Z06, but I really like the look of the C6 ZR1 (and performance is really close). I'm adding that to my decision. I think that while the base price is as advertised, it's going to easily go into the high $70s, low $80s with options. Tough choice and I agree with an earlier poster that you really can't go wrong with whatever you get. Either one will be an awesome car!

GS all the way. The Corvette is a special car, the Camaro looks a bit pedestrian compared to it.

lol I wouldn't say it looks like a pedestrian it doesn't stand out near as much as the vette.... But that is not always a bad thing. Driving a 2016 z06 around i'm constantly worried someone is messing with it when I live it in a parking lot or anywhere. I think a camaro even a ZL1 would blend in much better. Both are great cars and have their ups and downs.

Well the zl1 is going to be faster in a strait line for sure and have a back seat.
the grand sport is a better looking car IMO but not as functional. IMO if you can live with a GS get the GS though. there are elements of the new zl1 the font grill and rear spoiler that just don't look good at all. I can't find one angle on the GS I don't like if I did not have young children I would be buying one. performance wise they both will suit most people well.
