Can I delete my EGR valve?
2001 Suburban... Lately, going over bumps, my dash lights will sometimes flicker, and the car stutters and ALMOST stalls. I have discovered some sort of short around the plug to my EGR valve. Wiggling this thing around replicates the dash light/ stall problem. However, when I completely unplug the EGR valve, the problem does not occur.
What would be the harm in leaving it unplugged? Will it damage anything, harm anything, or will it simply not run as efficiently? Thanks, Ken |

I'm pretty sure EGR is part of the smog control system. You would need it functioning to pass smog.

Check the ground wire on the back of the passenger side head. Real common problem and causes what you are describing.
