Young Chevrolet in DFW

Walking into this dealership was the worst mistake my fiancee and I made while trying to buy a 2016 Camaro convertible. I guess because they thought we looked too young to be able to afford this car, they did not take us seriously. We could have driven off of the lot with 2 of them with the financing amount USAA had given us.

We gave them 2-3 days notice that we were interested in the car and that we would be driving almost 7 hours one way from San Antonio to come see it. When we arrived, the car was not as advertised; it was missing the LPO black bow ties listed on the window sticker and website that they were charging for. We still wanted to test drive the vehicle and were mortified when the check engine light came on before we could even pull out of the driveway. The one person at the dealership that could fix it wasn't there, so we had to go back the following day.

We went back the next day to finally get to test drive it and found a small scratch that we asked them to fix if we buy the car. The General Sales Manager, Dennis Steele, was terribly offended at this and told us that "maybe we should buy elsewhere" because they "didn't think they would be able to bring it up to our standards." Total overreaction to something so trivial! We still went for the test drive, which was pretty much illegal since they handed us a paper tag and told us to hang onto it in case we get pulled over, instead of spending ten seconds putting it on the car.

After we returned from the test drive, we still wanted to buy the car. We were then given an insulting low-ball trade offer, which we politely contested (as ANYONE on the planet buying a car would do). I mentioned that similar vehicles in the area were selling for twice as much, and provided proof of book trade and retail values, to which Bill Martin, the New Sales Manager, replied very condescendingly that we should sell it ourselves and again "go buy elsewhere."

We asked our saleswoman, Barbara Choate, to step away for a minute so we could make a phone call to see about having it transferred to another dealership we had worked with the day before. She agreed and immediately went to her co-workers and started talking badly about my fiancee and me within earshot. We heard this and were enraged at the unprofessional behavior -- at least wait until we get out the door! So, I (very loudly) said I was going to write a one star review about the dealership. Bill came back over and said that if I was "going to write a one star review, you can do that outside, I'm were asking you to leave."

As we were walking out the door, Bill called me an "arrogant idiot" which... did not sit well with me... words were exchanged. Bill followed us out the door and threatened me to try to get me to fight him, puffing out his chest and yelling, "COME GET SOME!" and then tried to say he was going to make me spend the night in jail. For what, we're still not sure since we were doing nothing illegal as we were leaving like they asked us to.

I do not know if the problem was that we walked in with financing in place, the supplier discount, and had already rejected all dealer add-ons via the GM "Shop. Click. Drive" system. They knew they would not make as much off of the sale as they would with someone without these options. If your only option is to buy from Young Chevrolet, please ask another dealership to have the vehicle transferred over for you so you do not have to be treated this way.

I have never in my life seen a dealership turn away a perfectly good sale that would have been incredibly easy since they would have never had to see us again. They need to learn not to judge a book by its cover, especially since this book could have provided proof of financing with the paperwork we brought in the door from USAA. We are awaiting a response from GM/Chevrolet corporate, as we have both filed formal complaints.

Take this for what you will, but I hope that hearing about our experience with (and opinions about) this dealership will help you make an educated decision. Please don't let them walk all over you and treat you like garbage when buying a car should be a fun experience!

You should stay away from 5 Star also. They did not want to honor the shop click drive I did and tried to offer me 6k less on a trade in.

Good luck in your search for a dealer. When I purchased my 09 Z06 and picked it up from a corvette forum dealer. The guy picked me up and the deal was completed before I even got on a plane.

I don't understand why almost all of American car dealers are shady. I've never been treated this way buying Honda/Acura vehicles.

I got mine yesterday at Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson Tx (East Dallas I believe), them guys are awesome. They did everything in their power to help me get my 2 SS off the lot and to my house. In the end it all worked out great!

Why not buy from Rodgers? They are a sponsor and work with everyone. Many buy from them because of their excellent service. Might want to reach out to Becky and see what she can do...

Only person at Five Start I would deal with is Corey White...guy has shot me straight every time. If he can't do it, he'll flat out tell me.

I will say I'm a little shocked about this coming from Young but again we haven't bought a new shop car from them on the last two cars....both of which we have bought from Classic in Grapevine. Worth a call.

If you wanted to get a hold of anyone that cared, ask for Dave Davis at Young and no one else. If he is still there.

Both mine and my mother's Camaro came from Classic and they were great.

Funny, I bought mine from young, and the experience was the complete opposite of what happened to you. I dealt with Bill and Grover, and they got me into my 1SS for a steal.

Gotta agreed, I had the worst experience with Young Chevrolet...So when dealing with them over the phone, I was told they would pay off the balance on my trade (which happened to be 23k)...Guess what happened the next day when I went to sign the papers.... I was told " yeah we're paying off the car but we're only going to Credit you for 20k" .... they goddamn nerve...they wanted to sell me a v4 RS with 3k miles on it (it was a loaner) for 26,600... needless to say I waked out on them, and ended up going to Reliable in Richardson. The experience was great, Manny Hernandez took care of me, all the way.... he took the time to work with me until I was able to find the perfect car for the price I wanted. I ended up buying a brand new v6 RS with the technology package for $26,100....Moral of the story... don't ever buy from Young Chevrolet

Another vote for Reliable Chevrolet.

They did everything they said they would. Im a fair, no nonsense player and will travel out of state for the right deal. Reliable got it done and saved me the hassle of flying.
