The only way to get rid of ANC is to disconnect the 2 mics at the Bose amp...and with regards to upgrading entire system...good luck...the signal between the head unit and the Bose amp is using proprietary MOST communication...no one makes a converter...I am hoping ******** comes out with some sort of wiring adapter to add a connection for a sub amp to add a separate subwoofer to the system..

If you're trashing the entire Bose system, why would this be an issue???

Unless you are doing away with the MyLink "headunit" in the dash.....the output of the factory MyLink system is MOST....there is no way to convert the audio out of the head unit to connect to aftermarket amp

The x3 connector gets rid of ANC but you lose:
Rear cross traff alarm
Turn signal clicks

I like cross traff so i reconnected

There is an engine rpm signal feed as well. It's mentioned in another post here somewhere. I got the impression the data is used for both ANC and speed sensitive volume.

Here are two articles I found on Bose ANC:
http://articles.sae.org/12747/
http://blog.nxp.com/connected-car/nx...-quieter-cars/

Note this system targets engine noise and aims for up to a 20 dB reduction. It does not address road noise, which is apparently a much more complex problem.
From what I can tell the system is marketed as "Active Sound Management" when the Bose amp is paired with the NXP SAF77x chip in the head unit. I suspect that chip is not present in the Camaro head unit, since they call it "active noise cancellation" with all lowercase letters in all the product info.

So if I turn off the ANC does the car sounds noticeably different?

I don't have one yet (a Camaro, that is), and I have been wondering about that. To me it seems like you should be able to tune to a non-existent FM station or blank aux channel and "hear" what the ANC is doing. Turn the volume up and see if the effect changes. I would think ANC would be "on" as long as the audio system is on, whether music is playing or not.

Leave the Bose amp alone, use a JL Audio line converter and channel summing (something like this http://intl.jlaudio.com/product/5421.../OEM_Interface ) in order to obtain a good pre Amp signal. There is lots of room in the left side of the trunk for electronics and a nice 10'' sub, without loosing much trunk space.

I hope your build goes well and please post your results.

When you cut the ANC mics, are the phone/bluetooth and car voice command mics different? I think my shop disconnected them all because I lost all voice control in the vehicle.

Yes, they are different. The door mics are for the ANC only. I had them disconnected inside the door panels, and everything else works just fine.
