Gas prices going up! Loyalty programs?

Filled up my Camaro tonight and just paid $2.56 per gallon for premium here in Colorado. Premium appears to be much higher than regular (almost $.55 per gallon). Because prices are rising, I thought I'd check into rewards programs. Looking for suggestions especially if anyone has experience with or done any research on gas station loyalty programs for the top grade gasoline? Any to stay clear of?

Costco is always a solid deal.

Safeway and Fred Meyers if you have them...you buy your groceries then use the points to get 10 cents to (at best for me) 40 cents per gallon off at their gas stations.

I think Shell still has their loyalty card.

Started using Shell Rewards its pretty good deal 3c off just for being a member! if you have a Master Card and link it you get an extra 25c off a gallon! Also if you shop at certain retailers and the card is linked to the Shell Rewards account you get more saving. pm you a referral link youll get 25c off more!?

This. Costco is Tier One (they are proud of their 'Kirkland Signature' brand).

Plus, they are transitioning from Am Ex with additional 3% gas discount to a Visa card with 4% off. Think about that. That is $.12/gl on $3.00 gas. Good at any gas station BTW. Membership has its privileges.

I've noticed that before 2007/2008, gas price per tier used to be only $.10 per. That Premium used to be only $.20 more per gallon than regular unleaded.

What happened to that?

I wish I knew. I noticed the same thing. Now premium is between .50 and .60 extra per gallon.

I think what's happened is that more and more cars require Premium fuel so the retailers can't resist the opportunity to take advantage of that! Remember when diesel used to be much cheaper than gasoline until more and more private vehicles started using diesel?

Amazing how before every summer gas prices "magically" start to go up.

Summer "blend" gas is different and made to reduce evaporation with higher temperatures. It is more costly to make and is required by federal mandates.

What's I always find amazing is the price of gas comes down during an election year...
