Gen 6 vs Gen 5 in 1/18 scale
Here are views of my old 2010 SS versus my new 2016 SS in 1/18 scale. Gives you a good feel for the shape and size changes from Gen 5 to Gen 6.

Very nice! Might have to add these to my growing 1:18 collection.

The red one is a Jada, they run large. The new car is in fact smaller, but not by as much as it looks there.

The top view really puts the difference in good perspective.

Well, while this was posted as a fun item for the sake of curiosity and not intended to be absolute proof of any thing - the red Jada and the blue Maisto are both licensed products and both are stamped 1/18 scale.

They're probably still trying to get the paint right on the Metallic black version of the 2016 1/18. :(

That blue car is about 5 scale inches less wide than the red car. As we know, the 1:1 6th gen is only about an 1" less wide in real life. So, those models are not scaled properly.

They may both claim to be 1/18 in scale, but I'm sure it's within some error tolerance. For what's essentially a slightly expensive toy, they aren't exactly scaled with super scientific accuracy. I'm sure something that's 1/17.6 in scale could be marketed as a 1/18 model for example, if rounding up.I know the OP says this is all in good fun, but you can't say that and then also claim this gives a sense of the size difference. It doesn't and is misleading. At best, you can just compare how the cars look from different angles without respect to their size. |

I had a split second of "Are you kidding me?" when I saw this but after looking it over, NICELY DONE!! That is actually super helpful in helping put the size difference in an easy to understand illustration.
Thanks for doing that! All the best, Jared Royce 801.545.4215 |
