Is it worth it to get the v6 over the turbo 4?
I won't be getting a 2016 model but I might be looking into a 2017 model. I want to know if it's worth to pay the extra $1500 for the v6 over the turbo 4. I'll probably have to test drive both back to back, but I wanted to know if anyone's driven them both. I won't be buying but rather leasing which is another reason I'm waiting for the 2017 model in the hopes the rates are better.

Not sure why you included the V8 option. You essentially nullified your own poll.

If I didn't like to go fast at the track, I would have considered either the 6 or 4. I drive my SS like a grandpa, which I actually am. Lol.

But on topic, i would just test both if i were you. I personally would prefer the turbo 4 for easy modding and tuning. The v6 is a good choice if you get the NPP, which makes the v6 option sound surprisingly good. The t4 has nothing to deliver in the sound department.

I got the V6 over the T4 because I knew I'd be keeping it stock. I liked the T4 in the ATS but the new V6 is a great engine. With the NPP it has some bark to it and makes for a fun drive.
2 year lease here as well. |

I like the 6 over the 4, I figure if I wanted I could add a turbo to the 6 and get more out of it! I will probably never do that, but I also like the smooth power of a naturally aspirated 6, the smaller turbo engines are a bit peaky for me, I just don't like the way they drive as much.

I think the Turbo 4 is a cooler engine. It's cheaper, more efficient, and has decent power. The only benefit of the V6 is having NPP. That's my take on it at least...

Answer is simple IF
- your keeping the car basically stock and care about performance somewhat - you care about sound V6

![]() The engines are 275 hp (T4) and 335 hp (V6), the 4 gets better fuel economy, and performs a little better up high in the rev range. The V6 sounds better, and performs better in the lower half of the rev range. |

That said the turbo 4 will probably have substantial aftermarket support. The V6 will be quite limited. Bet there will be 400+ hp turbo 4's by the end of the year. There are differences between the different drive trains (rear end, limited slip dif, half shafts) between the V6 and turbo 4 - so do your research. I wish that I had Experience in a WRX or a RWD turbo'd car. Coming from a GTI after trying to be sensible/responsible/adult I realized that I had to go back to a RWD "sports car". The GTI was quick and tossible. But, with an open dif (torque steer) and a peaky engine I never really found the car met my wants. The V6 feels like a great engine. It's really happy pushing past 4000 RPM's and pulls hard (for a V6) all the way up to the 7000 rpm redline. I've said it many times but, the NPP exhaust sounds somewhat exotic as the car screams at 5000 rpm's. I can't make your decision for you. I'm truly enjoying my V6 and I'm not second guessing my purchase as it was the right choice for my city commute. That said I can see myself stepping up to the V8 in a few years.

For the extra $1,500, you could mod the Turbo 4 to at least put out peak numbers like the what the V6 has. But as others have written, the driveability of the motors are very different.
On a 2-year lease, I wouldn't mod at all...so I'd rather get the V6 and only the Turbo 4 if you drive it and you don't mind the way it delivers power.
