What are you folks paying for powdercoat?

Just got a ballpark of $100 per wheel, seems kinda high from what I remember getting some wheels coated a few years back

What are you folks paying?

$500 to strip and powder coat all 4.

It's been 5 weeks. Still not done...:( From the sounds of it, it's hard to do right...(sarcasm)

I was told $75/wheel by a local shop with a good rep.
That was for gloss black.

Other colors or finishes will run more.

You also have to add in the cost of dismounting and remounting the tires, rebalancing, etc.
There's another shop out here that does a package deal that includes all of that.
For a custom dark blue color, it was $475 with a 3 day turn around.

$700 including tire removal/replacement. I would've been much happier if I could've gotten black wheels from the factory for $0 (over the $200 for my gray split spokes which I got). $700 wasted dollars but no hassle swapping wheels with someone, etc. was supposed to be done in a week, it's been 2+, supposedly done tomorrow. huge PITA...the whole process.

Trading wheels was the best, cheapest and "easiest" path for me.

But at sometime in the future, I may go a custom color route, in which case, I either order new wheels or PC the existing ones.

I hope all of those looking to get theirs done ensure the wheels are coated with a powder clear on top of the colored powder base.
If not, your wheel finish will not last much more than a year and still look decent.
Most guys around me quoting under $100/wheel did not include any type of clear.

A place in Northern IL charges $50/ea. A few years ago it cost a bit more at $300 for all 4. They do good work. I wasn't upset paying $300 since the wheels I took them had about 10 layers of paint on them, and they ended up coating them 3 different time since "they weren't satisfied" with the end result.
