Any reason why the camaro doesn't have lane change cameras and a civic does?

Just wondering why a friends brand new 2016 civic has cameras on the side mirrors that display a live feed on the console when you hit the corresponding turn signal..

But the camaros don't?

This a penny pinching move from GM? This would literally cure ALL "blind spot" arguments anyone has about the Camaro IMO

two different auto makers, two different goals. camaro is made to look appealing inside/out and be fast. the civic, gas efficient and "user friendly".
between push to start, heated/cooled seats, blind spot detection, mag ride, apple car play and other features. silly to compare this to a civic feature wise in my opinion.

You are missing this 100%.

How can a camera on the side mirror which isn't noticeable, NOT something a manufacturer would want to put on a car that is KNOWN to have a blind spot RIGHT there?

This seems like a feature that should be standard across all cars, period.. You're talking looks, speed.. I never brought any of that up. I brought up shit that should be standard across a broad spectrum.

Again, why... This seems to be something they SHOULD have. Period.

Not noticeable? I can very well easily see that ugly thing hanging off the side mirrors. Use your mirrors and turn your head and stop being lazy.

I can change lanes just fine without it. Maybe it's a feature for someone who's too distracted with checking out their facebook messages and yelling at their kids or BS'ing with their friends to bother paying attention to their side mirrors. Or maybe civic drivers just like driving with the seat all the way reclined so they can't see their side mirrors that well and thus need cameras.

meh. I'd much rather have a full heads up display that covered the entire front windshield with object detection. With minority report style user interface. That would be fun.

I had a 13 accord with the cameras the came on for blind spot and turned it off. I don't always want to come in on when somebody was beside me , I can look in the mirror. Like I said, different manufacturers promote different features.

Ugly boring cars need some kind of gimmick to suck people into buying them. If you need such a device to drive then you shouldn't have a license.

And that's the mentality that we need. Why have another safety feature, you're right.

No wonder GM can get away with so much.

I've researched quite a few cars when deciding what I wanted and found you generally have to make a tradeoff between convenience features and performance unless you're willing to spend a lot. A lot of sedans are loaded with convenience and safety features but don't deliver in the performance or feel of driving versus a camaro or very sporty coupe.

When you do look at more performance focused cars like the Camaro, they tend not to offer as many of those features for more of a focus on the 'driving experience'.

I imagine that is part due to a desire to offer the most bang for your buck performance wise, and also that the target market for this car not placing as much importance on extra features.

That's not to say the Camaro is lacking in available technology and features.. heated steering wheel/seats, heads up display, android auto/carplay, rear camera & sensor, lane change, cross traffic, auto dimming mirror, collision warning, etc.. You can't expect everything in my opinion, there will always be other features other automakers have added on that aren't in the model you want.

I'm sure additional cameras for improved visibility will become more common in cars going forward. I saw the rear-view mirror camera feature on the CT6 and that looks awesome, but all that stuff will take time before it becomes more prevalent on new models.
