"We named the sixth-gen Camaro our 2016 Car of the Year. That’s the highest praise we can give a vehicle. I remember sitting around after the vote with my fellow judges expressing the following sentiment: “Forget Mustang and Challenger. The Camaro now competes with BMW and Audi.” We proved that just days later when the new Camaro beat the Mustang GT in a Head 2 Head."

That's nice and all, but where is that comparison?

Wow, I wonder what H2H the 1LE will be pit against.
No way, not the 911. That would be interesting indeed.

Good for Camaro. Interesting how BMW has some new competition from Camaro, and they panic with a hastily thrown together response....(sort of...lol)...

Maybe it's a worn out obligatory montra, but they didn't gig the Camaro on visibility....Don't think it was even mentioned one way or the other....They did call out the giant vent down low on the console....That was supposed to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, and they called it out for it's location....(Some of us brought that up at the reveal, but it was automatically dismissed as a folly criticism)....They had to find something to not like I suppose...

They really blasted BMWs fake engine sound from the speakers. I hope Camaro doesn't fall too hard for this phony feature as a "solution" to something...

All in all, congrats Camaro. Maybe like they say, sales figures should be compared to Audi, BMW, etc....Might be time to grow up from Mustang, Challenger comparisons...

The Cayman GT4 seems like a good comparison, at least around a track.

I'm afraid all we will see is the 1LE vs. GT350

I hope we get to see one against another equally matched european. I would kill to see the 1LE against a Porsche in a review.

I might get to try that one personally. I know a guy here at work with a new GT4. Maybe I'll get some PDR footage of hunting him down on a track day.

So the one metric where the M4 came out on top should have been even closer to a tie.

Quote:
Confession time: Due to an oversight on our end, the BMW was lapped with only half a tank of premium. Our standard testing procedure is to test and lap all cars with full tanks. Assuming 7 gallons were missing, that’s about 40 pounds. We asked our SCCA Hall of Fame buddy what difference 40 pounds makes on a racetrack. “Maybe a tenth,” Pobst said. Apologies to Camaro Nation, but our point about these two cars being near indistinguishable performers remains. You Ford fans? The new Mustang GT takes 1:24.32.

Yep I also can't help but to wonder how the BMW benefited from the 255/275 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I would bet my paycheck that the 245/275 Goodyear run flats are noticeable worse.

Yeah, I can't wait to see what the 1LE is capable of. Looking at lap times set by Randy Pobst, the 1LE could end up about as fast as a C6 Z06.
