Rear license plate mounting - no-drill solution??

My car finally arrived at the dealership this afternoon, and to my surprise they called me to ask if they should drill holes in the rear to mount the license plate:

Ideally I would like to have a non-drilling solution, and I believe I have some time (until my plates arrive). Please let me know if any of you have run across a clean solution without involving drilling (velcro?! ). Thanks!

3m VHB TAPE off amazon

That being said, I would drill it. . It is designed to be drilled

Look for a rear lisc plate kit , again from Amazon.

Velcro can certainly work. 3M has some heavy duty velco in huge strips you can get at walmart. However, i'd be hesitant to use it in this application due to the potential heat in full sunlight if the car is parked outside all day. Might cause the adhesive to fail over time.

Not sure really why you wouldn't drill it. There is literally no potential case where a rear license plate wouldn't be required and utilize those holes unless you're using the car in a foreign country that has different sized plates - and I'd think most of those would be right hand drive countries

Thanks Glen. What's your thought on bolting the plate right against the body (w/a frame) vs. having a plastic spacer in between?

sure, couple teflon washers/spacers with the link above. You definitely want to mount the receptacle above and not just screwing to the plastic, long-term the threads will be compromised. Just drill top two, then use 3m vhb to stick the bottom.

Here is an interesting idea - a magnetic mount!!

Poly Coated Magnetic License Plate Holder (2-pack Bundle) - Keep Your Demo Tag or Temp Tag Secure on Test Drives with these License Plate Magnets (2-pack)

Has anyone tried this?

I would just drill the back. Front is another story.

I know a lot of people like to keep their Camaros as clean as possible and don't want holes for the front bumper, but worrying about the rear is a little extreme. When is this spot *not* going to be covered by a license plate, in any state?

Anyway, OP already said he drilled holes in it, so this is a pretty moot point.

Dimples

I just noticed 2 dimples on the left side of my plate and came to this post and noticed you have them to. There about an inch right of your backup sensor i 3 inches above the other. Do all camaros have them

I believe those dimples are the drill spots for European plates.
