Any amateur radio operators?

Just wondering if there are any fellow hams lurking ... and whether you installed a radio in your Camaro.

I'm trying to come up with some ideas on where to install a radio, antenna, etc.

yes... here... KB0CGJ
I was not planning on installing a radio in this vehicle. That may change. A remote head radio wouldn't be so bad to install. There is nice access in the trunk to everything needed. But I just don't want to mess things up with an antenna.

Undecided as of yet. Took me two years to decide to install something in the 5th Gen.

For radio mounts, I am awaiting the parts specific to the 6th Gen from Proclip. Had the radio head mounted on one of those in the previous vehicle.

And although I used a trunk-lip mount antenna previously, I'd really like something that doesn't change the lines of the vehicle that much. I've thought about window mount antennae, but that just doesn't feel right either.

Same here, KF5WED. I don't plan to mount one in my Camaro but I will try my handheld, maybe it will work with the repeaters around here.

When you're running blocker for 400 cases of Coors, you need to watch them smokeys and keep the hammer down son! Look out for the Kojack with a Kodak and those Texas bubblegum machines!

Thanks for the replies.

My Elmer joked there's not a lot of room for a radio in the cockpit. I kind of agree. I barely have a spot for my phone.

I feel like my only antenna option is a window mount. Anything mounted on the trunk would hit the rear windshield, and the roof is out because of the sunroof.

I suppose one option might be to get an antenna that can be raised/stowed as necessary. I kind of used to do that in my old car: open the sunroof and attach a clip with an antenna to the opening.
