Valet or not to Valet?

Was chatting with a buddy today in regards to a valentines day dinner we have planned with our wives. I told him I will be driving the new ride so he can check it out (he has two Mustangs and BMW 550). The restaurant is located in downtown Denver and he asked me if I was considering parking with the Valet service at the restaurant. I really hadn't thought about it much, but he mentioned that he had an issue with one of his Mustangs after giving to a Valet. Apparently, he noticed a scratch on one of his wheels the next day and the restaurant basically told him to contact his own insurance as they were not responsible.

I've used Valets many times with my previous vehicles (mainly Jeep Wranglers) and I was never too worried about it, but with a high performance vehicle that sits low to the ground, I imagine there are more opportunities for Valets to screw something up when parking it. Not to mention taking for a joy ride or something.

How many of you let Valets park your new Camaro and do any of you avoid Valets because of the fear of issues/damage? Anyone experienced an issue?

I've let people valet my former heavily modded 2010 Camaro SS and my current 2012 Grand Sport Corvette and I didn't have any issues with it.

It's like with everything. Your mileage will vary. I don't feel comfortable valeting my car everywhere, but places I frequent I do.

So... Yes and no?

Again, just comes down to the specific place and person doing it and whether or not you feel they'll treat the car right.

I can tell you that all my cars have sustained more damage being self parked in a general parking lot than ever with a valet.

Hell no! I would never let anyone drive my car, especially some 18 year old kid that will do God knows what with my car! I park my own cars...just my opinion and thoughts.

Nope. I'll be walking across the street from the parking structure to the restaurant this weekend. Why take the risk.

I've had too many friends who were valet's tell me what they've done with customer cars that were in the 'fun' category to never ever want to valet a car ever again

Uber or cab it or carpool in something you do NOT care. I take my malibu or the truck to places. I don't even take my camaro to walmart even if it's for 5 minutes...

Are you serious or just joking? If someone with a Mustang said that to you, what would you think? Most places that I've been to that have a valet are parking cars on a completely different level than a Camaro and they're in plain view. I know what you're worried about though because I've seen all the stuff on youtube that they do to Corvettes, M4's, etc. For me I would take everything in account before just saying no. If you plan on DD your car, it's going to get scratched. I hated the person I became when I got a brand new black car and hope he never comes out again...it was embarrassing.

Oh hell to the no. Last time I let a valet park my brand new car, which I literally owned for half an hour. The idiot put a fist sized hole in the front bumper! Never, ever, ever again.

I would honestly just like to backhand you : /. What does the price tag matter? A car you care about is a car you park your damn self.
