Question anyone who owns a 6th gen, your feedback is needed.

hey all,

I'm pretty much sold on this car and I want to be one of the first few people
where I live to own it but here is what I would REALLY love to know from
everyone here who owns the car : do you advise me to go ahead and buy
now or wait until they solve all the bugs this new gen has? because to be
honest I have been seeing quite a few threads here about problems people
are having with their 6th gens and the idea of that happening to me is kind of
scary so what do you guys think? is it worth the risk (if there is any at this
point), or should I just go for it?

any feedback is appreciated.

While I just have a little over 700 miles on my car so far the only problem I have had with it is the stereo will mute when OnStar or my phone takes over and sometimes won't un-mute when the call is over. I usually have to turn the stereo off then on again to fix it.

I'm glad you guys are not having any problems so far and hopefully you never will but on the other hand it seems that quite a few here got paint, mechanical, npp exhaust problems and someone even got a hood alignment issue which is really unfortunate so it's a serious dilemma for me tbh lol ><

Just finished break-in period. Had some issue with the exhaust and dealer was great about addressing it quickly and professionally. I'm usually one to wait for the first year to pass, but life short brother and if you can get it now, get it. Live. It's not guaranteed we'll see next year. If you're blessed enough to get it, then get it and smile and laugh and enjoy the ride!

well, it's pretty easy to perceive a common problem, but the reality is we see 2 or 3 threads about paint issues, and we don't see threads about the thousands of Gen 6 Camaro out in the wild already with no issues at all.

knock on wood, no problems yet. still in break in period... This is one of the nicest cars I have ever owned. It really is...

Problems I have noticed so far (2SS M6):

1. Bad rattle when I clutch in, seems to be coming from the transmission. I hope this isn't normal, I have an appointment with the dealership to have it looked at. People have asked if there is something wrong with the car.
2. Radio can get terribly confused if too much stuff happens at once: like a call comes in on your phone while your changing stations. The volume can get stuck in the "incoming call" setting.
3. The throttle has a delay between when you hit it and when the car takes off... and the delay is different depending on the driving mode your in. So how much throttle you have to give it for a smooth gear transition in 'sport' mode will be completely different from 'touring' and 'track'.
4. Visibility is absurd. I thought it would get easier the longer I've owned the vehicle, but its really stupid. Almost dangerous at times. I have no idea how the Camaros without a backup camera ever backup. As an example, if you pull up too close at a red light, its very possible you won't be able to see the light at all.

Having said all that, this is the most put together and fun cars I have ever owned. I cross shopped the Mustang/Challenger when I was purchasing this car and the Camaro won by a huge margin. I could have written pages about issues I've had with other vehicles, maybe I'm just negative?

I will put it this way. I am a business owner and mistakes happen. They are rare but they happen. Guess who the only people we USUALLY hear from are? The bad ones! You don't always hear from the good. It is the same case here. You are seeing a FEW people having issues but I can guarantee you the good far outweigh the bad! You have a warranty and in my case a lifetime powertrain warranty for as long as I own the car. I bought a 2010 camaro and didn't have 1 single problem until almost 100,000 miles. I had a 2014 camaro with 0 problems. I trust the camaro at this point.

curious what was the exhaust problem you had? also is it normal for the exhaust to get louder during break in?

1000 miles and no issues other than annoying brake dust
