SoCal Porting - Ported Throttle Body and Intake Manifold Sneak Peek

As some know, I have sent a Throttle Body and Intake Manifold to SoCal Porting and he just sent me + Kracka 2 preview pictures of the porting work on the throttle body which I figured I would share here. The intake manifold he is just starting to work on today, so it will be done either today or tomorrow. I will post the pictures of that here as well.

Amazing porting work as you can see from the pictures which is really hard to actually see how good the porting is from pictures so being able to tell how good, is a really good sign!

Ported Intake Manifold:

I will upload some better pictures, I was only able to take screen shots of the pictures that I received via text.

The work looks similar to my WeaponX ported TB which is a GREAT thing, expensive, but pretty much recognized as the best on Corvette Forum. I hope the intake manifold comes back similar as well! Ruben @ SoCal's work on the C7 exhaust manifolds is equally as gorgeous.

Can't beat a turnaround time of 1-day for a TB/IM combo!

Ain't that the truth lol. I will try to be a patient and get the intake then do it all but... Probably we will end up installing those next weekend lol. Especially if it doesn't interfere with the c7z grill install!

I believe Tr6 is supposed to receive the package today and we've discussed installing them this weekend while he's in Dallas.

I am still waiting for delivery. It's on the truck and out for delivery. I do have a baseline setup down in Dallas and I would like to be stock stock for that just so we can see the gains of the TB and IM. I can and will grab another baseline after I install them though. So I could tell you the + rwhp/rwtq with just simple ported TB+IM. My guess would be about 15-20 rwhp on 93 octane gas. But we shall see.

Any thoughts on if the manifold porting will require a tune? I was not a warranty worrier until I had problems with my ZL1. And now GM is buying it back.

Of course the Chevy CAI tune may be the hot ticket. I see no mention of a tune any more with the GM CAI. Was that a mirage?

Another beauty of our LT1 is that it is NA and you do NOT need a tune for ported stuff nor even for an intake (unless stated otherwise by the manufacturer of the intake). Now... If you want to maximize the efficiency, you do want to get a tune. Even without a tune, you gain efficeincy. The numbers I am about to use are pure hypothetical! Without a tune you get 6rwhp on the TB but you get 10rwhp with a tune. 5rwhp without a tune and 8 rwhp with a tune. etc.

I think GM needs to hurry up and release their intake with or without a tune... With a tune it's even better. Whomever comes first to the market will write their own golden ticket.

Very good porting job there. Is The throttle blade larger as well or is it just a porting of the TB itself? Any bench flow data on that or the manifold? Is the manifold port matched to the heads?

Cool! I was afraid of removing the manifold on my LS3 TT. But after doing it once NBD. If I can get 25 RWHP with a CAI, Ported TB, and a Ported manifold with a supported tune I am all over this. That should be enough to get my CA6 SS M6 into the 11s. Hopefully without DRs. And then with DRs in good air who knows. I am chasing a very fast almost stock 5.0 auto. I know the basturd will be adding a Procharger and going into the 10s. I have to surprise him first.

Before my ZL1 I was not afraid of a tune, but now with the buyback I am a supported tune guy. Once the warranty is gone the turbos are looking good. Already in the 10s without a good turbo match.

PM me a price for both.
