How long did it take for your ordered Camaro to come in?

Just completed an order sheet yesterday, my dealer said he can't order until Tuesday.

He said 8-10 weeks and the wait is going to be awful!

How long did it take you all to recieve your Camaros?

Congrats......8-10 sounds right. A few other things....see beckys prduction codes in the stickies....You can get the Code from your dealer, and is usually the best source up-to-date information , even over what Chevy chat may tell you.

A dealer makes thousands of dollars off you… It is absolutely his responsibility to get you this report at least twice a week if you want it. You do a survey at the end of the delivery, that costs him hundreds, maybe thousands of dollars if you give him a bad mark. So get with the sales manager (not your sales guy) and remind him you want to give him a good marks, and that includes good info flow to you during the ordering process. An email every couple days with this report or you'll take into account when you do the survey. It works, there is no reason to ask GM for information, when your dealer has it at the tip of his fingers, it is not asking too much. All the good forum dealers have a website that lists the code whenever they change, your local dealer can do the exact same thing to you.

Just my opin, but far too many customers are letting their dealer off the hook, they owe you information any time you ask, big time, they are doing nothing but allowing you to give them thousands of $ on a Camaro

Again, just remember an order # does not mean much - you are looking for code 2000 on his workbench order....he can pull that report for you 10 times a day if he wants...until it says 2000 in the red circle, you really have nothing, a car is not being built for you. And notice how my name is on it, not the dealer name:

The reason we all need to pay attention to this, is dealers can lie and tell you that your orders on the way , when it's really not. And that goes on more than you think. Your dealer may be honest, but it's worth checking.

I ordered a week before Christmas (18 December, to be exact) and I was initially told 8 to 10 weeks too. I checked today and my event order is at 1100. That is what I get for ordering from a smaller dealer with low allocations. When I asked about it the dealer told me that Chevy cannot take all his orders at once and my order is basically in line to be ordered. In my case I think 8 - 10 weeks is optimistic. I thought about canceling the order and going somewhere else but I am already a month into it and have decided to ride it out. Hopefully the delivery experience will be awesome.

At least you know what the heck is going on, kudos to you and the dealer for shooting straight. Code 1100 is like you wrapping a UPS pkg and setting it on your doorstep, 2000 is the truck picking it up.

Thanks for the information, I just shot him a text letting him know I expect a lot of communication the next couple months while we await my car.

What should I ask him for? The order # and what else? Also where can I check the status myself once the order is put in on Tuesday?

Thanks a lot for your help.

My dealer said 12 to 16 weeks I'm in Ontario so it must take longer or his timing is off. He said I was the first to order a new Camaro there.

They are a bigger dealership in my area. I actually tried 3 dealerships and no one but them could price it out even though I showed the other 2 I could build and price it on Chevy.ca

Regardless I ordered on December 31

Ask for this specific report ---->the GM workbench <------this is the report that I got twice a week, until my car came in, every week. Don't except any reason for why you can't have it. If you get any pushback, go to the sales manager. And remind him of the survey. Don't threaten, just make them cognizant that you know about the survey. Trust me, for most dealers , it works wonders.

The dealer told me my order gets the next allocation. I have no idea when that will be and believe me, I asked. I am hoping to get some movement on it next week. I don't think the dealer has any reason to delay an order. Aside from my deposit, the dealer gets paid when I get my car.

You would think that the dealer would be on your side because he gets paid too, but what happens is people get bumpd for lots of reasons; owners buddy came in ,they need a car for an dealer event, or some guy comes in and pays a whole heck of a lot of money but needs it right away… So it's worth checking..... This car is not super hot, so the Dealers are filling orders pretty quickly. Xperts expect at least 72k Camaro units produced in 16, thats a bunch.

The other reason you want to get this workbench report is so you can quickly look at the options that he ordered and make sure that's the same as what you think. Lots of people over the years get a car in and it's missing NPP, OR for something else because youR order wasn't checked early. You only have a couple weeks before they freeze the order and you can't change it. Not what is written on the buyers order, but what GM received for a build, is most important. So check now.

True. I understand things like that can happen but there is nothing any of us can do about that. Unless you work with the general manager at the dealership, you will never know the entire truth. I stay in touch with my sales person and check the status of the order myself. That is about all I can do right now. Once the dealer commits an allocation, its a round downrange, so to speak. Right now I am waiting on them to pull the trigger.

Mine took 10 weeks, but that was over Christmas shutdown and they now also added a third shift.

Explain what exactly this "3rd shift" is? Could I be expecting the car sooner?
