double click sunroof buttton

All of the double push buttons like the windows going up or down, work. except for the sunroof close button.. If I push the button to where it kinda clicks in twice, to open it, it'll open without having to hold it.. but if I try to push the button all the way in to close the sunroof (without having to hold it down), it doesn't work. Does it come this way? Or is it suppose to work when closing also? I wouldn't think so considering the button can push in further.

It only has the "Express" feature for opening on the sunroof. So to close it you would hold it.Looked in the manual to double check..page 22. And I would say it's normal as my Q60S works the same way.

My only issue with the sunroof is that it doesn't auto close when the car is shut off. My aftermarket sunroof in my Malibu had this ability & it was really convenient.

It is also against the law.DOT and NHTSA would never allow a mfr to auto close on shut off.

Single press (and release) to close wouldn't be against the law though.

well at least nothings wrong with it but I find it odd they would make it to where it opens without holding it but they can't make it like that when closing.. like the windows for example. makes no sense why manufactures would do that.

Safety and cost would be my guess. If they wanted to have an auto close function they would have to have sensors in place to detect an obstruction (like a child's head for instance) and that would add to the cost. Also what happens if the sensor fails and a kid or animal gets injured because of that failure? But like mentioned earlier, it looks like there's a law in place to prevent auto manufactures from using an auto close function.

Well this is interesting. I picked up my 2017 2SS today and found that the sunroof doesn't express close just as you guys have noticed on your 2016s. Funny thing though, my manual very specifically states that it should, which makes sense considering the way the button works with a second position in both directions. Compare your page 23 to mine and you'll see how the text was updated.

Either the book is wrong or my car is. Either way, the dealer is going to find this one interesting I think. Good thing I found this thread because for a minute there I thought I was going .

PS Bonus: A quick one-step press and release of the "open" side of the button will auto-vent but the same on the "close" side will not auto-close from the vent position. Possibly related to the above problem or, in other words, a programming issue.

More than likely it's on purpose as somebody else was saying. The sunroof in my last 2010 Camaro didn't have express close and neither does my friends 2014 Cuze. Sounds like GM protecting themselves from kids playing in cars.

Maybe, but then why update the 2017 manual to specifically say it works? See my post above. I would understand if the manual was the same as 2016 and didn't mention it. Also, both with the windows and sunroof, during auto-close, it will reverse or at least stop if it encounters an obstruction, much like a garage door.

Checked the 2016 manual and found express close is not an option:
https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam...ro1stPrint.pdf

I wish they would allow this to be an option which could be enabled in settings.

Funny thing is, you can close the windows in express mode. Why not the sunroof? It is after all just another "WINDOW". Does not make sense at all.
