How could AFM vehicle operation pass quality control
I took my Range device out over the past couple of weeks because I was not going to drive the car much and the cold take is toll on the battery.
I drove the car without the Range a couple of days lately and I could not believe what a POS AFM makes the L99. There is so much bucking, brapping, and fart sounds that I was spending more time trying to get the engine out of 4 cylinder mode that anything else. Trying to accelerate when I needed to incurred a delay while it switched from 4 to 8 till I got to speed then quickly went back to blaaaaa, bwahh, arrrr.. Hate it. How could anyone in GM QC actually sign off on this being acceptable. I can't imagine the conversation of a couple of test drivers.. "Yeah I think we have a winner here. That will do " |

Lol I agree. My grandpa is a retired mechanic and first L99 we drove we heard the noise and were convinced something was wrong with it. That was until we drove a few more...

Tune it out. They sell things that you can buy to turn it off.
When I did headers and intake during the tune i had them turn it off. Really annoying. I am going to cam and turbo the car soon and i will upgrade and remove it all together. |

That is better than having all the people that buy autos having to pay a gas guzzler tax from a sales standpoint

This is engineering, not a QC thing FYI.

It sucks. Horribly obnoxious. I had to return my tune to stock for reasons and drive for 70 miles. I've got a full exhaust and it was just awful. Nothing but burrrs, vibrations, and slow throttle response. Oddly enough, not one CEL during that day despite not even having cats.

Just be glad it isn't the Cadillac 4-6-8 mode from the 80's!
