Anyone Order the Turbo 4
Just ordered a hyper blue with the Turbo4, RS, sunroof, auto, and tech package. Will trade in my ATS which has the same turbo engine. I can tell you that this engine is plenty quick and gets great gas mileage. I can't wait to see how it performs in the Camaro.

I do think that the turbo 4 will surprise a number of people, especially considering its sub 3,400 pound curb weight.

This will be the underdog car. My DD was a Cobalt SS that had the gen 1 version of the 2.0 DI ecotec, and its stupid easy to make sizeable gains. I think you will see big numbers from the little 4 banger.

The Camaro will have around 15hp more I think and probably around 300 pounds less weight. |

Current/previous t4 owners
- do you feel the t4 engine wore out prematurely due to the turbocharger? - do you feel at any time that you didn't have enough power? - is the increase in mpg worth not having more power? Looking at getting the convertible, but may take the t4 version to save money. |

My 2010 sstc has 215,000km original powertrain. Intake, downpipe, blowoff valve, 23psi tune since 135,000km(warranty ended) no mpg lost when tuning or modding. Turbo is very surgy down low and falls off top end. Motor will take 500bhp before you need to worry about internals. But the cobalt community had problems with our 3rd gears when you upgrade to a bigger turbo. And many have valve coking but myself haven't with 200k+. If you dont use a catch can you can always walnut blast your valves. Its cheap but takes a lot of elbow grease and preparation time.

Not at all. People have a common misconception that turbo vehicles from the factory will suffer from premature wear. There have been 6 generations of the turbo ecotec engine on the market, and I've owned an LSJ, now on 162,000 miles. No internal problems yet. I do a compression check on my car every 50k just to be sure. I have a hahns race craft turbo kit putting down 33 whp, at 18 PSI. You will have no worries. The ATS owners who suffer from rod damage are for the most part modded, and have received a bad tune. Anyone who tells you others wise has no experience or is just biased. 2. Do you feel at any time that you didn't have enough power? Much like any performance car, you will get used to the power, and will always want more. 3. Is the increase in mpg worth not having more power? Depends on what you want really. I want the turbo four because it is a very reliable engine, and I have a great history with it. I know the engine inside and out, and am a huge fan of the underdog factor. Really the only weak point I see on the car is the transmission. I can't remember if the max torque rating is either 330 or 370 torque. The LTG makes a lot of torque with little to no mods, and 400 whp is easily attainable with bolt ons and a tune.

I got the turbo 4 for the gas mileage as I take a lot of long highway trips. That engine is stellar. The Ats did not at all feel underpowered or like you were driving a 4. Plenty of torque and get up and with ease. Punching the gas very seldom redlined the engine. It just responded beautifully and smoothly. Had I not had experience with the engine I would have gone for the 6. With that said many will be surprised with the 4.
