Manual Trans Fluid?
Just curious what manual trans fluid you guys are using? Any advantage to using synthetic. Thanks.

Save yourself the 1 -2 gear shift issues and get the Royal Purple Synchromax.

according to Tremec, you can use Mobil 1 which is Dexron III approved. Other fluids can be debated over days here. Amsoil has a synthetic fluid rated for the Tremec manuals which I'm sure will work fine also. I wouldn't try to get "fancy" with other secondary brands.

Thanks for the replies. I was hoping a fluid change would smooth out the shifting (especially when cold). Looks like I have little more research to do.

I used Redline D4 ATF because it has a slightly lower viscosity at 40C, but pretty much the same at 100C. Try searching the transmission section of the forum.

RPM transmission recommends the Royal Purple syncromax. I run it because they build my transmissions but I really don't know how it differs from the others. I've had 2 transmission rebuilds in 10,000 miles but I'm drag racing with over 1000whp on a 4200+ pound car....
I have heard the MGW shifter is a big improvement over the stock ZL1 shifter. I have not driven with one but plan to have one installed when my car goes back together this time. I think I talked to about 4 guys running the MGW and they all rave about it.

^^^ It seems the guys who switch to the MGW shifter love it. I like the stock shifter, but I wonder if the MGW allows for quicker shifts at WOT?
