Convertible Weight Penalty

Supposedly ONLY 55 pounds according to this article. That sounds really low. Corvette type weight gain. Corvette actually gains 64 pounds.

It all depends on how stiff the new Camaro is in it's natural form. The stiffer the overall chassis/body, the less additional weight added by more bracing/stiffing required by the convertible top.

With all the added bracing GM was showing they needed to add to the convertible, 55 sounds way to low. Maybe 155...

This ^ That underside picture of the rag top shows a ton of bracing.

Could they be talking about the actual top only adding 55 extra lbs and not factoring in all the bracing?

What do you guys think the weight of the actual top and motor is compared to coupe top structure? Practically a wash?

That makes no sense. I don't think the underside bracing adds as much weight as some people think.
