Proud new 2015 Camaro owner; reposting inright forum
Hey guys Im from western Canada, just got my new Camaro .
It only has the V6 but hey the price was right. So affordable I could lose my job and still make the payments for full length of the loan on savings. Anyways ive seen alot of peeps modding their older camaros and wondering what the best bang for the buck mods are for the newest ones? looks like headers are out cuz it has no exhaust manifold? probly wouldnt do it anywasy to avoid warranty issues So far top of my list is probly some kind of exhaust mod , probly axle back, just to get a deeper growl. |

just peeking at the exhaust system from the side, it already looks like an awesome quality and good sized dual exhaust, especially for only 3.6 liters, so i would hate to mess with it so soon. the exception is those huge azz ugly cans they call mufflers. Im thinking just, [lol] exhaust delete might be the way to go.
my last experience with modding exhaust on my 2007 civic started with a $411 replacement straight thru muffler. it was basically an 6-7" outside diameter tube housing an inside 3" diameter perferated tube attached to stock exhaust pipe which was probly 1.85 inches. it sounded very rumbly and bassy for a civic. not very raspy at all. but before i installed it i ran the car with out anything just cut off the stock muffler and it sounded about 95% the same. so what i ended up doing was just buying a 14" long 4" muffler tip typically for a heavy duty truck and getting that welded on the stock pipe. it sounded great! a little drone on the highway at 2200 rpm and a little loud when going to work at 6 am but still a massive improvement over stock honda muffler! i wonder if something similar would work on this dual exhaust. say 2 -3" or 2 -4" by 14 long tips like on my civic would accomplish the same thing on this bigger dual exhaust and bigger engine? or maybe it would be too loud since without the mufflers theres only tiny resonators to dampen drone. i noticed lots of slightly older camaros on youtube with the borla 11776 mufflers which seemed to be quite rumbly but are not fitting 2015 cars and expensive compared to deleting stocks for tips welded in. im thinking 2 of these might look good and sound good http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/in...l#.VgcnDJdVKlM What the heck is a catch can needed for? wheres all that oil come from? aftermarket oil sprayed air filters? Congratulations. Looks like a tight squeeze into that garage. Will you be crawling out the window?
There is a guy pretty much running straight pipes that sounds pretty good. It is very loud though. I think his name is Sanjay. Lots of YouTube vids, check em out Edit.. there he is! |

like i said before , the stock exhaust system looks excellent quality and size to me. good quality stainless pipes with non kink probly mandrel bends. so without being underneath i would rather not mess with removing half of it to put in an x pipe. where it starts to suck is the complete lack of any bass and the ugly tin cans they have for mufflers, so im looking at only an axle back mod of some kind. the mufflers i posted from canadian tire look good but might be a hard fit since they are 18 and 120 inches long |

Welcome aboard! Beautiful car! I have a quite a bit of family in Saskatoon!
You may want to investigate what Overkill Motorsports has to offer you as far as mods go and maybe tuning if you're interested, they are in BC, so I imagine shipping/duty fees etc wouldn't be as bad as ordering from the US, and they are also a forum sponsor. |
