GM Supplier Pricing Question

So my company is on the list, and I signed into GM's supplier pricing website to read the rules FAQ's etc

I found this:

GM Supplier Discount Program (SVPP)

A. Eligible Participants

This program is available only to:
1) Active employees of eligible GM
supplier companies.
2) Active employees of eligible GM fleet
and commercial companies.

B. Sponsored Purchasers

Participants under the SVPP are not
eligible to sponsor any purchasers
unless the Participant purchases. Each
time an eligible Participant purchases
or leases a qualifying new GM vehicle
under the GM Supplier Discount
Program, he/she will be granted the
opportunity to pass on the GM Supplier
Discount to one individual for up to one
year after purchase or lease

My question is about this bit in red... does this mean if I buy a new Camaro next year, that I could give anyone a supplier code to use?

Follow up: In the pic posted with the prices MSRP / Dealer Invoice / Dealer Price / Employee Price... which is the closest to Supplier?

Thanks.

I too have access to Supplier pricing through my company, but I was able to get my dealer to agree to invoice pricing. I created a Supplier account and used my code from my company. Once you create the account, there is an option to request for a supplier code. It asks you if you want to use it for self, or for someone else. Did not know that you had to purchase a vehicle first before you can give it away and allow someone else to use it, I did not see that information.

As far as pricing, it is probably going to land between dealer invoice and MSRP. Dealer price is lower than dealer invoice, and I know employee pricing is less than supplier.

It looks like the supplier discount, at least for the Vette, has just shrunk a little. It may be because of the price increase that GM dropped on the dealers that was not matched with an MSRP increase.

Ran a supplier check on a Z51 about a week ago and a 67K car was discounted about $5500.00. Ran another today on a slightly different configuration with similar pricing and the discount was $4400. Something's going on.

Yeah I am not sure how they calculate those, I don't think it is a set percentage. My dealer showed me from one of his Escalades in stock, it was $83K MSRP and the supplier pricing was like $74K, so that is $9K less!...so I am not sure how exactly how it works if there is some kind of formula or it just depends on each vehicle...maybe someone can chime in.

Was one of those a 2015 and another 2016 by chance? The two years definitely have different supplier pricing at this point.

I know the top packages and more options will allow a larger supplier discount, because there is a lot of profit built in with them. I believe that is big reason why the Sixth gens are loaded with many extras with only a few a la cart options. They make you buy the package and they are deft at including things buyers can't do without at each level, so we end up buying some things we don't want to get those we MUST have.

My wife ran it at work on their website. That did cross my mind, because the timing was close to when the 2016 Vette was buildable on the Chevy site. I'll see if I can dig up the old print out.

UPDATE: You were right. One was a 2015 and the other was a 2016. I assumed the percentage/amount would be consistent year to year. Guess I was wrong.

Do supplier discount amounts sometimes change once you get into the actual model year? I won't buy until 2016, whether it be C7 or Camaro.

I'm guessing there is a bigger discount on 15 because it's a model year old now and 2016 is out. I think what we should be looking at for comparison is the 2016 Vette.. And I'm not even sure how that carries over into comparing against rest of lineup.

Employee, supplier and dealer invoice pricing sometimes goes up and the MSRP does not change. Sometimes MSRP changes, then the change accordingly.

This is why anyone ordering should make sure their order goes in SRE and not TRE. If there is a price change after ordering the invoice when the build is shipped will reflect the new price but if the dealer sells the SRE to the person who made the order the dealer can get reimbursed for the difference.
