Preorder Negotiation Based on MSRP?

This is a question to all the people that have already placed orders. Are you able to negotiate an agreement for the car price to be at MSRP or under? How do you know that they will not try to markup above MSRP after it's delivered? How many people are getting it at or below MSRP? If it is below he MSRP what percentage off are you getting?

Just be open about what you're wanting at the table when you order. Get it in writing. No reason to be rude about it, you're just protecting the purchase. It can be an awkward moment, but I have seen people get burned badly when the 2010s came out.

I got it in writing that the dealership would honor my military discount and the USAA discount in addition to anything that happens to be going on at the time.

I already discussed supplier pricing beforehand with my dealer, have it in writing...hopefully should be at least $2k - $3k.

They can only promise MSRP and whatever overage on the items that are LPO. In general we do not know the pricing yet.

My dealer was up front with me about the potential of a markup when the cars arrive. But considering demand around ordering the cars isn't all that high. they will most likely not mark it up. This isn't like 2009. (Their words)

This seems like a great reason to wait to order when prices are available so you can get it all in writing. If I preordered and the dealer tells me afterwards they reserve the right to impose a markup I'm going to another dealer. If I can't find a dealer who will cooperate then I may be waiting to buy. Seems like a great way for Chevrolet to shoot themselves in the foot seeing as they want the Camaro to set sales records.

Hopefully the possibility of markups is not a problem.

No markup at my dealer, in fact I am at least getting Supplier pricing or invoice, already have it in writing and discussed this with him already. There are always dealers who pull that crap with markups and then there are dealers that always insist on not screwing customers who either have been doing lots of business with them and/or to retain future business with that same customer. Dealer markups = walk away! No need for them!

my contract is for MSRP. Stingray Chevrolet will not sell a car or truck above sticker.

I may get supplier pricing - IF its available at delivery they will honor it, but that's unlikely for the first few months.

My dealer is taking supplier, but if it is not available right away I already told them I am paying no more than invoice. I have bought a few cars from them and most of them have been for invoice.

Hi Matt, how do you manage to do that? I'm waiting to see if I can even select the car in USAA, but it's still not showing. Or you just ordered and will do the USAA auto service while the car gets build?

Did you have to pay anything in advanced?

Thanks!

When negotiating, the 5th gen rule of thumb was dealer cost was 3% off MSRP on the model and 14% off on accessory cost added to MSRP. They have other incentives that lower that cost to the dealer a little more.

IF one waits till the rose is off the bloom, one could start an offer below dealer cost and then work up to a reasonable price that they may take. Most will be MSRP at first.

I'm hoping pricing is released at Camaro fest next weekend. I just want to know lol, I check at least 3x a day to see if a price was spotted on a gm document somewhere.

A little confusing. Accessory cost as in dealer installed ground effects or options on top of the base price?

Forget there car buying service, only use it if gmmilitarydiscount.com is not yet showing a 2016 Camaro, I emailed Chevrolet and they told me there is no plans for it not to be on there as of now. Bring your USAA member ID to the dealer and tell him you want the USAA discount, its 750 dollars off. Then hope Chevy has some rebates going on. I would inform your dealer now of your plans so you can find another dealer if he doesn't want to use any certain discount.
