I heard the new 15 mustang 5.0 engines might be weaker then previous years

Two aftermarket supercharger companies are dealing with customers with broken engines and not even high boost situations. Ford did change the horsepower ratings I wonder if they removed some material off the rotating assembly and this could cause an issue.

Well... what is failing on them?

Chevy has been known to change Horsepower ratings without actually doing anything to the engine. "re-certified"

I dunno, isn't the new Stang a flat plane engine? Should be all new parts, or do I mean the 2016?

From what ive read so far i though they were stronger internally. Maybe theybare having a tuning issue like the cyl 8 failures when the 5.0 first came out?

Only the GT350 has the flat plane crank engine!

There's a lot more to a supercharged engine failure than just boost.

Fuel delivery, ignition timing, head gasket sealing, valve timing.... all things that must match the new application.

After seeing a few go down the track, I've yet to see one with an ET under 13. Ford keeps pushing and pushing the 5 liter, which is fine but in the end there is no replacement for displacement. Time to move on.

Our '15 5.0 at work is putting down plenty of power on boost with no issues.

How many miles on boost? Daily driven car? Maybe that's the difference?

I dunno, I like both Mustangs and Camaros, maybe just bad tunes on the ones that broke.

Our cars get driven on a regular basis by the engineering team and management but I wouldn't necessarily call them daily drivers. They do get pushed hard on the dyno.

No, you mean the GT350. It will have a 5.2l Flat Plane Crank engine.

There should not be any difference between the 14 and 15's 5.0's besides a tune. The basic Pro cal tune from FRPP for the 11-14's will up HP by 15-16 and Torque by up to 60lbs.

I suppose it's possible they did something different to the internals to cut down on weight, but I haven't heard of anything.
