What can the big time guys run at the track? Just wondering u here fake show I want to here what people know. Tell me internet or in person.

There was a chicago episode and a few of the guys were pretty well known from dragstrips in this area. I know that one of the chicago cars that appeared has gone 6.5@200+

From what I've been told is roads are closed, racing is real, and the money is fake

I think there are way too many people and cameras involved for the show to be 100% legit. Racing is probably real, but no way its on an open to the public road.

The show is scripted, just like any "reality show", but I'm sure they were street racers at some point. This wasn't scripted though:

Farm truck is my favorite, especially when they go fishing! Start off with the bug and then on to the farm truck! LMAO when I see 7000 pounds, looking like that, hauling the mail...

Street Outlaws is as "real" as the WWF was and the WWE is. Do the cars physically drive? Yes. do I believe that the cars are genuinely fast? Of course!

do I believe that the race determinations are actually made by the racing? Not a chance in hell.

Fake (ish).... The guy who drives the purple dart posted on a thread on another site, basically stating every safety precaution is taken to insure everyones safety. All permits are acquired yada yada.

Common sense tells me that the police would look like the biggest hillbilly buffoons if they honestly didn't know about this activity on their public street.

Do I still watch? ya when I see it's on....

The article that was out a few weeks ago about the NHRA threatening to ban some of the cast members because they had their NHRA numbers visible in the show. (something like that.) Anyways, in that article they said that yes the roads are closed and the police are involved as well as ambulances present.

I love the show! I don't believe for a second that this is in anyway "street racing" but I think the cars are pretty sweet and they are definitely fast! That's all I care about. I find it hard to believe all their high dollar betting is real, but I ignore that nonsense anyways.

The thing is these guys also street race when there is no safety equipment or police to block off the road. In fact a former racer that appears on the show has been charged with murder in California for organizing a street race where two spectators were killed. While the show may be staged, off camera it's all too real.

Wow that's crazy. If you're to the point where you're organizing street drag racing events then you need to take your ass to the track! That's inexcusable.
